    1950s Jet Fighter Pilot

Here is a jet fighter pilot from the 1950s era. I made this for a P-80 Shooting Star model i am working on.

    Wow, looks great !
He'll add a lot to the aircraft render whether in the cockpit, climbing aboard or posed next to it.

Can you explain the basic process of creating this figure, is it:

    • create a low poly model
    • Use blenders Sculpt tools to add detail, folds etc
    • Then do you retopo with polys & add a subsurf modifier before uv mapping him ?
    • Then animate him so he sits in the cockpit ?

I must have a go at creating a new pilot myself so the process of how you went about it would be very useful to know.

Is there any tutorials in particular you would recommend for character modelling in blender ?

I used Manuel Bastioni's Lab add-on in Blender for the character creation and posing. I had to create the clothing myself. But with the add-on, you can link the clothing to the character model so when you pose, the clothing adjusts automatically. It's a really good tool for character creation.

There are lots of tutorials out here about creating clothing. But I used the Mirror, Solidify and the MultiRes modifiers a lot.

I'll look into the Lab addon as I have not heard of it.

Thought you might of sculpted him in blender and then did a retopo. Regardless great result.
