Royal Air Force TSR2 in operational colours

The BAC TSR2 mach 2 nuclear bomber in the colourscheme it would've worn, had it gone into production. Serial XS666 was part of the first production batch, but sadly only the prototype was flown before the TSR2 was cancelled in April 1965. Most of the airframes then under construction were scrapped.

These illustrations were commissioned by Damien Burke for his excellent book "TSR2 - Britain's Lost Bomber", as published by The Crowood Press in 2010.

Very nice one Ronnie, I watched a documentary on this bird a couple of weeks back. It's such a crying shame the US (via political blackmailing) forced Britain to halt development on this magnificent aircraft.

    Cheers guys!

What documentary was that Joep? I don't think the US had as much to do with it as some like to believe

Well, as far as I understood they wanted the Australians to buy their F111 and in the end threatened to collect the war depth if the TSR program was not cancelled (as Australia had strong interest in the TSR). That is also why pretty much everything was burned including airframes.
