    Looks great Mark,

Is it all conventional subsurf or polygon modelling or have you used one of the many boolean addons like Hard Ops ?

I didn't know what Hard Ops was until your post. I'll have to look into that. Right now I'm just doing it the old fashioned way. Are there other addons that you would recommend?

I am using Booleans to create the cutaways. That way I can easily adjust what gets cutaway later.

I'm using Group Instances for all the repeating parts (hand wheels, nuts, bezels, etc.). I've never used them before, but I think they'll make my life a lot easier when it comes to unwrapping UVs. I'm also hoping they significantly reduce the poly count.

I'm also using a lot of arrays and mirroring (also with the hopes of reducing poly count)

Great going! That's a massive amount of detail you'll be modelling! Good luck!

Looks impressive with all that gear in the rear of the sub.

Apart from Hardops (which plays well with BoxCutter), I am looking at Retopo flow 2.0.

I am thinking I can create aircraft with self intersecting meshes and use retopoflow to blend it all together and create the seamless fillets for stabilizers, fins and wings. I know I can achieve similar things with shrinkwrap and face snapping but it looks like a more powerful & faster workflow with Retopo Flow.
