Markings are setup... need a couple small tweaks, and then I can start working on the non-UV-map shaders... and then weathering...

Does this particular aircraft have an interesting history?

Not that I'm aware of... the only information I have found so far, is that it was flown by a HR Clay Jr., with the "A" Flight of the 41st Aero Sqn USAS, from late 1918 to early 1919, and that it had a confirmed 8 kills.

I picked the scheme more for the unusual roundels, as you don't see many American Camels sporting this particular variant.

    Looks nice!

One point of feedback: WWI aircraft with fabric coverings were 'doped' with a glossy lacquer coating, so they can be shinier than people expect. Here's a photo where it's evident:

More shader work, and added a pilot (pulled from a Beriev BE-2 project, from YEARS AGO)... still need to fix a couple of texture map issues (seem on the center of upper wing, "4" on the right-side is flipped, and still need to refine the CAMEL-V insignia...)...

Textures fixed and tweaked, shaders tweaked, some minor mesh adjustments... and we have a pilot! Also simulated the spinning motor and propeller... not perfect, but pretty good...

Looks good although I think the weathering on the on the aircraft's framing elements is a little too strong. Plywood is much improved over earlier versions.
Its a really nice color scheme you chose for the aircraft.

Final shader tweaks have been made... just waiting to see if I can get a more accurate unit insignia from a guy on DEVIANTART...

Also setup the appropriate shaders to allow me to do a half'n'half cutaway...
