Exclamation Header Rules and How-to

Post by Aceman »

Headers are intended to be an AWARD for great work. Not just something we give out to everyone. You should have to work for it.

RULES: (which apply to all staffers)
1. NEVER headerize a thread of your own.
2. NEVER headerize a thread more then once.
3. NEVER headerize a member's thread (even if great) if you can still see another tile (that's a header plate) on the forum's homepage by the same artists. Wait till it's moved off, then add the new header of the work. Basically, I don't wanna see 3 headers for any one artist's work all on the homepage. SPREAD THE WEALTH.
4. Deleting headers - If you click delete it's gone.. so be careful.
5. ALWAYS use the TEMPLATE. (which can be downloaded from the header control panel.)
6. NEVER give anyone NOT on staff the password for the header control panel. (IF they need it - let an admin give it too them.)
7. NEVER headerize a thread that does not contain artwork!!!!!! (Stories will require some type of cover artwork - or something) - exceptions to this rule are for contests or at an admin's discretion.

TEMPLATE VITAL INFORMATION:
(NOTE: the template has changed to a wide format so do not use the old header template if you have it.)

1. The header file type should be png or gif.
3. The size MUST BE: 220 pixel wide x 193 pixels tall at 72 DPI.
4. Save the image for the web.
5. TEMPLATE is in Photoshop PSD format. IF can't use photoshop, please make sure to mirror the tiles as best as you can. If you want to provide a few other graphic versions for others.. please contact aceman so they can add the link to the template file on the Control Page.

You need to FTP into the server to update the "slider" - you only create an image (from the PSD) stored in the "assets" folder and edit the slider.html file. I would backup the original and replace "slider.html" to see the update you made.

FTP INFORMATION:
FTP Username: mmstaffer@military-meshes.com
pass: r3nd3rfarm
FTP server: ftp.crcgraphics.com
FTP & explicit FTPS port: 21

Text is handled from within the HTML code. No text in the images.

You are NOT required to post headers, but if you do you are expected to be critical. The headers keep the site fresh, and are a great incentive for those struggling artists.

HEADERIZE ARTWORK / WIPS ONLY.
