Well.. seeing as none of my OLD stuff survived... and I'm feeling like I haven't contributed... here's the Raptor I just finished... this is obviously NOT in an environment that means anything.... i set this up so that everything moves with sliders.. what a pain in the a@$....

Comments and crits welcome but just so you know, I already know the bomb bay area is a bit off...

SWEET! Raptor...

wow, this one looks great as well! Correct me if I'm wrong, but you seem to have a bit of pinching around the air intakes. One thing I always wondered about the F-22. Does it reload the missles or do you get two shots and that's it? I like the little rubber thingy sticking out on your tire, nice detail!

you aren't wrong.. there is pinching.... (he runs around screaming!!!!).... and you only get two shots from the side... however, it does carry 4 more missiles (amraams) or small bombs in the main bay...

Nonetheless, it seems to be a tricky part to model, and you did a great job. So, no more screaming.
Ah, didn't know it can store missiles in the bomb bay. I've seen a video of the F-22 doing a horizontal take off. It looks like a Transformer when it converts. I can give you the link if you haven't seen it.

Nice!!! I wondered why no one ever models the Raptor...it's a sweet plane...but here it is in all its glory!!

Minor crits...it looks like the left main wheel intersects the hinge for the gear door...maybe it's just the angle? It's kind of dark down there so hard to tell for sure.

Also, the lighting makes it look flat and CG-ish...it'd be super sweet with better lighting I bet.

Rockin'!!!

uh yeah... Deltacharlie.... yep.. it intersects... i gotta move the friggin hinge foward... i'll do that, set up another render (brighter) and post it...

thanks for pointing that out....

Oooo look at you! You're posting models! :D
Very nice looking and nice cockpit and weapon bay details!

Did you see the stuck-canopy photographs of the F-22? Must be tricky to get hold of decent detail shots? Or aren't they that secretive about it anymore?

Jeez.... it has been awhile hasn't it? and YES.. it's bloody IMPOSSIBLE to get good pics that haven't been played with. even the ones at airshows are "fixed"... and i do mean that... they are NOT the ones that fly.... anyway.... yah.. i saw the pics... pretty sad.. high tech but made in china.... OOPS.. did i just say that???

Zarroun, i believe you have the raptor mixed up with the JSF... which is a STOL/VTOL/CTOL aircraft.... (three different versions, a, b and c)....

the raptor doesn't convert at all.... in fact.. as planes go... it's pretty damned boring for something that costs so much... they could have put some bling bling on it.... jeeeezzzzz!!!

Another really impressive job of a modern military subject.

Hmm, could've sworn it was the F-22. But I hope you forgive my ignorance, they look very similar :err:.

Of course, now i can't find it anymore. But you were right, guess I wasn't clear in my last post. When I looked at the diferences of the two planes, I remembered that the one in the video had one turbine. Sorry about that.

Great work.
There seems to be some polygon error or something right behind the cockpit. A small black line. Just a small thing, only noticable on that pic from above, without the canopy. :)

Cool plane. It's a nice feature with the "hidden" weaponry. :)

uh... yah.... hmmm... a fine line... GRRRR... drat!!!! yep... there sure is a fine line... it's the main paneling of the cockpit which somehow got moved about .00000000002 units over... and now it WON'T go back.... anyone else ever have this problem in max???

Not all that unusual to see cockpit shots of the F-22A (with the power off). Power on is a whole different story.

I've had max "ignore" small changes (< .01 ) - I usually just move it 1 full unit along the axis, then back to the 'correct' measurement...Sucks huh?

krazycolin

yeah... i tried that and no joy..... grrrrrr....

Max is a **** like that. Only way to fix it is working in a smaller scale. I use centimeters myself and still get it occasionally.

krazycolin
06-01-2006, 8:11 PM
that's where i'm at... (cm...) however i managed to fix it... i moved it in arbitrary amounts but in large increments.. it took several times but finally the .000002 disappeared. i talked to a friend at autodesk, and he said that the next time i have this problem, to diminish the amount of exactitude i am using.. in other words: don't use 5 decimal places... use 1 or two...

thanks everyone...
