View Full Version : Fw 190A-9
Hi folks!
One of my newest profiles, showing Fw 190 A-9, W.Nr. 205998, Stab III./SG 10, Salzburg, May 1945.
The plane has a very unusual painting, maybe because some parts were taken from a Fw 190 A-8.
The profile was published last year in the booklet: Losses of the Luftwaffe in Austria Sptember 1943 to May 1945

Looks really good ! :)
I just have the impression the vertical tailplane should be a bit larger, but I don't have any reference to back this up, so disregard it if you know it's perfect.

That is very nice, I like these late war color schemes.

Having been doing 3D for about 15 years (almost...), it never ceases to amaze me what can be done without a 3d object to paint on.... i WISH i could do the same...
great work....
First thank you all for the comments.
bzhyoyo: The first Fw 190 of my profile series I have done in 2002. I'm not sure which sources I used, but I think the vertical tailplane is okay.
krazycolin: I also wish I could do the same all you are doing here in 3D.

Good stuff Simon!
Didn't SG 10 have an overpainted Defence Of The Reich band around their tail?

Would be new to me that any SG 10 Fw 190 had overpainted Defence of the Reich bands. On the picture I have from this plane there is nothing visible.
SG 10 was part of Luftflotte 4. Identification was the yellow band on the engine.

It's quite possible the A-9 never received the tail band and got the cowling band straight away, but only photos could tell.
