hi all
As modelling for games involve very serious low poly tricks, i need help on one of those tricks.
I am using 3ds max 8. I am modelling a gun which is suppose to be low-ploy, so I want to know whether do i use any smoother like Turbosmooth or Meshsmooth or use smoothing groups to remove those visible hard edges and to make it look smooth.
As using Turbosmooth adds a lot of polys which defeats the purpose of Low-Poly, and by using smoothing groups, the edges doesnt gets enough smooth.

So Is there any other way to make the model look smooth and also is Low poly.
Please Help !

Not that I know of. Turbosmooth adds more polys and automatically applies smoothing groups.

If you want to make your low poly look smoother without Turbosmooth you will have to build more polys into it and then apply smoothing groups.

All low poly models look edgey though.

indeed. Instead of 2 polies, make 3 or four, and then select them all and give them a different smoothing group, lets say "8".
That gives the impression of a smooth surface, only drawback is that if the the shape is not dome shape, but more like a cilinder, the edges will still show up as 3, and not be smoothed.

Hope you understand what I'm trying to explain ^_^
