I produced this model in mid 2006, posted pictures of it on another 3D forum and no one responded.

This model was originally intended for use in a next generation game. However, this idea was scraped, so I contended to add detail to it. The hull and cabin model were tested in a game engine, however I stopped testing it before the machine-gun mounts and interior were finished. The model is lacking exhaust jets, I should probably add those some time.

The model is 100% polygonal modeling and it contains about 40,000 verts / faces. I am seriously considering creating another Mark V model, however, the mesh will be much denser.

That looks good, if you are going to create a high poly one you could use a lot of stuff of this model you have already done.Would be nice to see that.

What kind of machineguns are those? name?

Thank you.

The machineguns are Browning M2s in a dual, naval mount. In addition to the M2s I also have a MK19 model. I left the Mk19 model off because you rarely ever see one mounted on the Mark V.

The interior is also modeled, although it is very low detail and the "wrong" type of seats were added. It is very difficult to properly model the interior as I only have one picture of the helm and it shows nothing but a single joystick. I hope to find better interior pictures some where.

I'm seriously thinking of updating the model and adding the water jets and other missing accessories.

Looks really great so far, would be nice to see this finished with textures and placed in a scene.

Personally I can't see any reason to start again, it looks fine as is.

I like it very much.
Doing the dual 50 cal turret for my MTB currently. Earlier model cooling sleeve than your's.
I'd love to see your's textured.
Cheers

Greetings! Thanks for the comments everyone.

I'd love to texture it, however I do not have any programs suitable for that. (30 Day trials only last so long.) Hopefully, I'll be able to find a commercially useable open source program or I'll be able to purchase a good commercial program, for a reasonable price.

Today I finished a low detail version of the K50S Waterjets. I'm not entirely sure if they are to scale but they are close. I've been unable to find any pictures of the mounting, so it's probably all wrong. Any reference pictures of the MARK V out of the water would be greatly appreciated.

They used Jaccuzzi Brothers drives in both the Pibbers and later Mark V. Jaccuzzi Bros' patents were bought by North American Marine Jet.
NAM still sell parts and service the whole range from JB's units onwards.
I haven't included these later patrol boats in my reference build up, so don't have pics, sorry.
But you might get what you need from North American Marine Jet (http://www.marinejet.com/)
They've got pics etc for several of the JY drives and the N800 the military design evolved into.
The Mark V's alternative drive jet, the KaMeWa50S are very hard to find pics of now.

Hello, thanks for the link. The propulser you suggested can only handle 750HP engines, where as the MARK V has twin 2,280 HP engines. Even the largest NAMJ propulser can only handle 1,500HP. Not saying you are entirely wrong, rather, I have yet to see any site that states the MARK V ever had any variation in it's propulser systems.

Every where I have looked, the MARK V is said to have KS50s.

There are several MARK III's - PBRs and PBs, one class that used to be a SEAL boat. They are smaller and were from the 1960-1970 area. I wish I still had a link to the site that featured them, but I do not.

Finding pictures / prints of the Ks50 was no trouble, as they are all on the Rolls Royce Marine site. The only part of my model I am questioning is the rear part of the hull. I do not know what that looks like or where and how the KS50s are attached. Although you can't see the propulsers, as they are under water, it would still be nice to have them mounted properly.

Today I started modeling a CRRC. The model still needs some work, although I've been trying to keep everything low enough that it could still be used in a future game... I'm seriously thinking about doing a high detail MARK V, with a new interior, guns ect. It all depends on how render worth this one turns out to be.

I've also been tweaking the rear of the hull and I believe I finally have the waterjets scaled properly. Although I'm not entirely sure that I have the waterjets in the right place. I also noticed that I am missing the side, water intake ports. It's on the list of things to fix.

wow those new renders look great...especially with the CRRC on the back, keep up the good work.....will you be modelling stinger missiles on the mark V as it says it can mount them ?

Greetings! Thanks for the compliment on the renders.

As for the stingers, I've never seen them mounted on a MARK V. Although I will consider modeling the dual naval mount.

Right now I'm considering my first MARK V model to be finished. I've started on making a set of blueprints based on pictures / measurements. Once this is finished, I will make a new MARK V model. Currently I am using Inkscape to construct a SVG line print. Editing is being done at 2000x1000 res but being a SVG I can scale it up or down without any loss of detail.

I'd ask Halter Marine for a print but in this day and age I believe that it would only be asking for trouble. Literally... So I'll have to settle for my own line drawing.
