Hi guys,
here is a german "8 Strich 8" from 2. ww. I "build" the baby with 3dmax 7 and Vray render. The texturing isn't ready. But I have no time.
bye I.

Very impressive!
But a couple minor things, that nobody else would notice:
The two folding legs are not locked. There is a half-round pin that turns so that the legs can fold. You can see the rounded side of the pin, so it is unlocked. You are not the only one who has made this mistake however!
I haven't seen a good picture of the part, but there is a rod and cam that extends down below the breech block on the lower right side of the breech. It acts to engage the curved rail on the right side so that the breech will automatically open (and expend the casing) as the unit recovers from full recoil.
I think this rod is in line with the handle and big round covered spring on the upper right side of the breech block.
Once you begin to fully understand the operation of the 8.8cm gun (or 88mm as we amis call it) you see how these small details are important however.
thanks for listening

Beautifully modelled. Incredible detail. Must be a tremendous amount of work that goes into something like this. Congratulations on the header.

Where did you find your reference material for this amount of detail?

Yes it is a little wierd. But, aren't we all.
Just trying to say, for anyone that might be sensitive to these things, that these were minor points and don't affect the look of the object.
Wow..very nice Igitur! I love all the detail... nice job!

Superb work sir!
Just my opinion here, but I prefer it untextured - the image you posted would make a great wallpaper!

@peter, don't ask me. I believe a textur. image, in 20 years!?
What's the face count if you don't mind me asking?
Also could you produce a signed wallpaper of your avatar please?:)

Igitur:
You may want to position the lock for the leg in the correct position before you do this.
sketch: http://g.wheeler.home.att.net/88Lock.jpg
For the other 88 fans out there, there is a japanese plastic model site that includes reproductions of model instructions and parts. There are 88 kits is at: http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10049014 and at http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10011240 There is data on all kinds of other model kits as well.
You can also Google "88mm" or "8.8cm" or "Flak" (etc) and toggle on pictures only, and get quite a few hits. Note however, that many, if not most painted illustrations seem to show the leg in the UNlocked position, while ready to fire. Maybe it looks more interesting in the unlocked position?
