HELP!

I'm trying to use Max but can't seem to get off the ground with getting background images to work. Did a search but no useful tuts on the subject.

Background images?
Display a bitmap as backgroun?
press 8 ( this open enviroment menu) , go to background, click in map, select bitmap, pick your bitmap.

I did read the manual but the images just didn't line up with the images. I'll try the 8 way.
