So may i present to you Ivan, the MiG pilot. It's my first complete human character modeling, i've some crappy heads and a dragon before, but this one is really a first for me.
Also my first completely rigged character. It's relatively low poly, like a game model with a big 4096x4096 colour map that make all the details. No normal map, should try that latter, there's seems to be great possibilities with that.

It was fun doing it, lunch time project too, in fashion these days.
Now i know how to do it , i think my next character model will be a girl...
The helmet, oxygen mask and the under-helmet leather bonnet ( don't know the exact name in english for that , "serre-tête" in french) can be removed individually.

There are some innaccuracies... there should be another zip on the suit left arm, and another connection from the mask to the back of the head (maybe some microphone jack...), and some other things...like some hairs... but anyway enough like that.

btw, any resemblance of that guy with me is pure luck :-)

Hope you like it (... the model, ...not me of course).

Impressive !

I am always amazed how skilled artists can produce such good results from low poly models.

Impressive for a first Character.. Normal mapping would certainly help it when it comes to the render so you can get quite close up. I really loved the Mig, great work. You are using Maya right?
I was planning to do a fully detailed pilot and seat for my EF2000 as a part of my 12 monthly tasks for 2007. Well at least you have giving me incentive to make a start on it.

Thanks. Yes using Maya. Will have to learn about normal mapping, don't know if i'll do it for that pilot but i think even for some details like cockpits or gears maps it could be a nice solution... Prefer to have light meshes and some detailed maps.
Hope to see the start of your pilot soon :)

Nice. I started on a pilot, but haven't gotten very far. I dream that one day it will look half this good!
