A few of you guys were interested in seeing some of my older work in my last thread so I thought I'd post a few of them up. Some of them have been on MM before, others are new to the site. Anyway, hope you like 'em :)

Great work! I love the He 219. Do you have other renders from that plane?

hmmm, well I really started when I got into the games industry, so it must be about nine years ago now. Which makes me feel very old :)

Baron, you can find some more He219 renders at http://www.kitparade.com/gallery01/he219gh_1.htm

All Really great stuff.

Desperate days is my favorite image out of your older work.

I like the figures, it adds a lot to the renders.

The dogfighting picture looks awesome. Is that a Pavehawk in the picture with that Russian sub?

Great detailing.......... this looks like movie quality.

Thanks guys, glad you like them.

Spinner, I think the Independence cruise was maybe the last that they used the viking logo before switching to the diving hawk. I was actually lucky enough to hear from one of the vike pilots from that cruise who gave me some really interesting info regarding the CAG bird.

Thats brilliant. The devil is in the detail and your's is spot on. You could pinpoint that pic to a date n place, like a op photo. I love it when the research shows through like that.

I don't recall seeing that He 219 picture before. If I did, I like it again! :D
(can't believe it's already 5 years old!!!)

Yeah I can't believe it was 5 years ago either, when I was a care free twenty something year old :D
I suppose the good thing about doing more 2d stuff is it will allow me to revisit some of my favourite aircraft like the UHU!

Wow! I love the '190 painting, the Skyhawk (is it?) over the submarine and, of course, the Tiger I (love the horseshoe, fantastic texturing).

Saw the tiger and the 190D on CG talk. Great work. Viking is nice not my favorite plane but the pic is well done an Intruder would be cool though or a A-7.

Luke, the Tiger's pretty old with not the best detail but some fresh texturing helped it along:)

Ernestking, thank you for your kind words!

Dann-O, The Viking is often overlooked when it comes to modern military aircraft but I kinda like it:) I'm looking to do something a bit more whizz bang with a Hornet sometime after i finish my Arado 234.

Unfortunatelly He 219 blueprints on this website are not very good and have too many bugs. In fact there is no good drawings of this plane in any books or articles about it.

Uhu is one of my favourite planes and subject of my next book. Text is ready in 100% and now I'am working on drawings, based on photographs of restored Uhu, so if you can wait few weeks maybe you will get what you need. Here is two weeks old phase of reconstruction of fuselage.

Let us know when it is released, I'd like to buy a copy. I will get around to modelling the 219 at some stage.

I see, that I will have to work harder to deserve so good opinion:).

I'am happy that you like this drawing. Of course if you have any notice feel free to write.

By the way Gareth, you wrote in post that you are working on Ar 234 now. May I ask you what blueprints you used? Asking, bacause I have some very detailed drawings of elements of this plane (B version) traced by soviet specialists after capturing few examples "Blitzs" in 1945. There are details of constructions - even too much detailed for us. Few of them was included in second edition of Ar 234 by Aj-Press, but I have more. Maybe it would be useful for you.

And returning to the main topic: I love your Tiger and Fw 190. There were a reson, that I almost decided to play with origami instead of CG...:)

That would be great mate......I'm using drawings from an old scale modeller magazine, the drawings are accurate in terms of dimensions but I could certainly do with more detailed drawings. I have my shape all modelled up but now I'm adding the details, the areo detail book is very helpful but schematics would be much appreciated:D

Skyraider3D

Marek, count me in for those Arado drawings too? I love accurate stuff! :)
Do you have the He 219 article from Luftfahrt International, by the way? If I remember correctly it has some factory drawings in it.

mrys
07-03-2006, 6:51 PM
This in 3 parts? Yes I have it. And in fact there are some drawings from manual, but rather for "quick view" then for use as a base. But lately I received package from Germany with beautiful photos of ejecting seats for crew, reconstructed from scratch with all details. And it is diferent then was known earlier. With photos arrived copies of oryginal, factory drawings of ejection mechanism.

And about Ar 234 drawings: no problems:D

Mrys: That fuselage drawing looks great - do you mind me asking how you produced it?

Gareth: Any chance of seeing a WIP of the Ar234? Please?:D

digiartist
07-04-2006, 1:45 PM
Luke, here's a WIP of the Ar234. The nose shape needs tweaking, it's a bit blunt just now and the tail needs a little work too but overall the basic shape is done.

Looks promising mate. Never realised the top engine-wing blend was so ugly on the 234! Otherwise a lovely shape.

Can you show a close-up of how you fixed the rear wingroot area in the end? ;)

PS. Nose looks a bit bumpy, perhaps consider this approach:

Thanks alot for that Gareth - you've certainly whetted my appetite! I'm looking forward to seeing the finished image.:)

It amazes me how you guys can get the wing / nacelle blends so smooth - guess I'll have to keep practicing.:D

Mrys: That fuselage drawing looks great - do you mind me asking how you produced it?
I'am working with Corel Draw and Ilustrator, but at first I try to find best drawings are available and photographical documantation. Existing drawings are use as base for primary shape. Then based on photographs and other sources I'am trying to correct all bugs in shapes, dimensions, details, panel lines, rivets etc.. In case of He 219 I've had photographs of whole fuselage, part after part. Only small fragment was not photographed, and I had to reconstruct it based on what was before and what was after.

Looks promising mate. Never realised the top engine-wing blend was so ugly on the 234! Otherwise a lovely shape.
Area where engine blending with wing in Ar 234 is very hard to reconstruct. In fact even on photographs this part is bad visible. I think, that Gareth is very close to the right shape. In Aviation Museum in Cracow is P.11c, and it was always mystery, how wings blending with fuselage in front part. It was reconstructed, but noone is sure if it is absolutly correct. Yes, planes have their mysteries...
