Eraserhead

Hello everyone,
I've been away for a while because I have been consumed with college applications. Most of my deadlines were this week so I had virtually no time at all for 3D. However, now I have a little more time to spare so I'm coming back to doing some more 3D work.
I am taking a short break from my Stug IV (http://www.military-meshes.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1202) as I need some low-poly models for my portfolio.
I began work on a Jagdpanther yesturday. The modeling took about 2 hours and I began to UV map it last night before I went to sleep. I also slapped on a crude diffuse map. I plan to put all the textures (except for the tracks) on a single 2048x2048 image. The mesh is 8066 tris/3524 polys.

Tracks textured. There is some nasty stretching occuring on the right side of the model which I fixed after this render was taken.

I would let the welds stand out more if I were you. and the textures a bit lighter :)

agree with Joep, needs to be lighter. Is this for a game ?

Thanks guys. I lightened the textures as suggested. This model isn't for any particular game, just an excersie in low-poly modeling.
Here are some updates. I also animated the tracks/wheels, I'll put the video tomorrow.
BTW, does anyone have a good font for the numbers? The numbers I used on this mesh were only supposed to be temporary.

Thanks cobra6. Are the welds light enough or should I still develop them?
Here is a short animation of the model. Nothing special, just practiced animating the tracks/wheels. I never done it before. I hope to animate this Jagdpanther in an actual battle scene ultimately.
The first and third wheel do not rotate properly, something messed up with the key-frames on them which need to be fixed. Also the last wheels jumps at the end which also needs to be fixed.

Are you going to make a bumpmap also?
Otherwise put the inside of the welds in a lower layer in photoshop, and let the top layer (armor plating) do a drop shadow on the welds. That will give it more depth :)
Texture still needs to be a bit lighter, but the foilage looks good :)

That sounds like a good technique for the welds, I'll try it on my next project. I did not plan on making a bump map, only a diffuse (and an opacity for the foliage planes).
I did this project mainly to learn texturing since I'm very inexperienced in it, especially for low-poly meshes. I'm learned a lot while doing it and while doing so found many mistakes in it as well (both in execution and result). I pretty much done; I like how it turned out ultimately and I hope to use the things I learned on my next project, including trying out the weld technique you suggested. I don't know if I will go back and fix the mistakes in the texturing in this mesh yet, maybe at a later time.
