Can anybody help me with suggestions on modeling aircraft canopies.

Currently I am box modeling WWII aircraft in Cinema 4D. I am trying to keep this down to as few meshes as possible, therefore I would like to keep the windshield as part of the main fuselage mesh with only the moveable canopy seperate.

Can anybody recommend any tips, techniques or tutorials on the cleanest way to accomplish this. I have already looked through the tutorial on colacola, but this isn't exactly what I'm looking for.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Depending on the plane I either make the canopy and windscreen part of the fuselage mesh (me 109) or make them seperate (F86 Sabre). I collapse the mesh to high poly and cut out the glazing pieces.

I'm in canopy hell with my F6-F3 WIP. Initially it was part of the fuselage mesh and I cut it out but I didn't like the way it looked so now I'm trying to model it seperately (extruding edges of a plane) similar to the way the famous fiat tutorial is built. It's kicking my A**!
