Welcome to Military Meshes!

Good looking start to her, though you are going to have trouble with that dense band of polys around the waterline of the hull there. I assume you're planning on using some kind of subdivision surfaces tool on this to smooth it out at some stage? If so, you really don't want such tightly packed poly rows like that.

yes.. i re do model the hull since already stuck fixing the smoothenes
i dont use any blueprints doin on this Yamato, juz reference image i get from wiki links
n yesterday a friend of mine sent the blueprint of it then i realized my model is not accurate especially the rear part

Lot of work has gone into this. Great job considering you pretty much eyeballed it.

There is book on the Yamato in the "Anatomy of a ship" series with plenty of detailed drawings in it. Only drawback to the book is that it is quite expensive and there are very few photos due to the fact the Japanese destroyed most before the war ended.

It is interesting that the Yamato and Bismark seem to be the most popular ships to model.

next, im bout creating the scenary of it.. perhaps about the Yamato Zero Hour :D
there will be plenty of dauntless/helldiver..
here im testing the ocean materials, the mood of the light it self.. the waves im about to paint it manually.
well, still long way to go, but i will keep tryin..

Looking good sir!

I can thoroughly recommend the Yamato 'Anatomy of the Ship' book by the way - that and the book on Fuso are the best books in that series that I've looked at.

Beautiful work! I'm curious what you use to achieve the ocean scene. Just needs some white water breaking over the bow and something in the scene to show off it's size and scale. Again impressive :salute:

@ lukem, thanks for the reference book :)
ill try to find it..
@ chukk, im using xsi ocean render preset (on my previous render)
but on my latest version render, i manually painted it on photoshop.. because i would like to achieve more to a painting look..
the baground sky is a photo..

I think i will post this version to the 3d gallery thread :)
dont mind the title of the image... i mistaken it should be sun set :p

Looks superb - and very sensible I think to go for the painted look rather than photorealism; sea is a nightmare!

I agree - nice work mate:) Nice atmosphere in the colours, but I prefer the monochrome version - looks slighty more moody if you see what I mean.

so cool, i like the ocean shader in your previous render and nice to see some great work done in XSI:cool:

did you render it with Mental ray as some of the renders have a slight Maxwell look about them??

excellent stuff:D

Martocticvs, yup.. my sea a bit nightmare :p ill try to put more details later..
Deetz, Lukem, hey thanks.. yep i also prefer the monochrome version.. somehow its really hard to get a good sun set mood..
giant551, hey xsi-ers... hehe.. yep i rendered it on xsi mental ray.. about 6 passes ive used here.. diffuse, shadow, spec, AO, and bit a reflection. :)

thanks all...
