hey guys, i figured it was about time to post some of my own stuff on here. i felt the urge to do a tank, and personally not being a big fan of modern tanks i thaught i would try either the T-34 or the Panzer IV. im thinking of going to a PZ-IV from the north africa campaign. always liked rommel :P. also, i think there are so many tiger tanks out there i think we should show a bit of solidarity for one of the REAL workhorses of the german army.
so, what i want here is your best shots guys, i want your most anal points. this really needs to be good. so give it some welly :P you have my permission to take it into paint/PS and cover it with lines and doodles to get your point across. without further ado, the panzer mk IV
(my server is down, so its gotta be an attatchment for the moment)
oh and also, does anyone know where i can get some images of those things that hold the wheels on (mainly the suspension parts which are almost entirely covered by the wheels?) that would be alot of help :D also there are a few bits tat are half way done, so they mightlook slightly out of place.
Looks like a good start - I'd like to see some more angles of it.
As far as reference material goes, you could get hold of the fairly recent Dragon 1/35 model of the vorpanzer - that would give you a starting point for some of the parts not usually shown in photos.

hey man
nice start!! It seems like you have some scaling inaccuracies though. For example the hull MG ball mount seems to be too small, and this goes for the driver visual slots too, the thickness of the mudguards.... If you want i can provide you with my resources, the stuff i used to build my pzkpfw IV...
great work so far! Looking forward to updates!

oh wow caman that would be awesome. yeh im using the dragon model referance images. i might email them and see if they could send me the actual plans. thats good tip guys. i only found this out by trying. if there is something you want to model. email airfix or tamyia, last time i did it i got plans for ever ww2 plane that airfix did lol. came in a box!! for free :P im not too worried about the ball on the front, the reson it looks out of scale is because in the final model you will hardly see it. im making the later version with the external armour on. so you cant really see it, i just feel better if its there :P but if you can i would love to see those referances :D
ALSO, next update ill do some more angles :D
EDIT: camano!! i just checked your WIP section, do you have any idea how much easyer you just made this? you have some really good shots on there by the way. i think im going to remodel some of the bits on the wheels... but i was always counting on doing some of that.
also... UPDATE. there are a couple of problems i have just spotted. like that viewport on the chasis is one that i made up before i realised it was flat. i must have hidden it and when i rendered i unhid all geometry.. covering the new one up. but for now...
EDIT: oh for the love of pete. guys. always remember to pay your website bills... :P

I'm liking the details you are beginning to put in the model, like the shovel and hinges on the mud guards; the small details are what bring a model to life.
Can you post a close up of an individual track link?
Coming on nicely mate! Thanks for the kind words BTW:)
Re: gun barrel. I'm no expert on the IV, but I thought the spaced armour on the glacis plate was only fitted to the later machines - the ones with the lengthened 75mm gun?

well i thaught hat, because from what i had first read on the extra armour, it was introduced quite late... but, i have alot of referances with the shorter barrel,. this isnt the best pic.. but its irrefutable.. being a piriod photo of it :)

Edit: oh also.. the reason that this was an unusual example was most of the reason i wanted to do it :D too many tiger tanks arround (no offence lukem, just wanted to be different). :D
cheers for the help guys, i really appreciate it. ill finnish the track off and uv map it then ill render one out and post it here :D
Yep - you can't argue with that!:)
No offence taken mate - the pzIV was the workhorse of the wehrmarkt. There is something about the Tigers though...:D
Look forward to seeing the next update.

hahah, the thing about tigers is that they are hardcore... and whats more they look it.. cool looking tanks :D next update in about an hour or so... starting to think about where to go on textures and whart not... if there is anything you think is desperately missing. tell me... im sure its just been overlooked.
EDIT:: FUDGE!! i just noticed i modeled part of my tracks back to front :O haha.. ok that was stupid. either way i gotta go out now... so no update for now :( ill sort it when i get back and maybe i can update before i go to bed. iff not check up on it in the morning :D
