It's finished now, hope you would like it:)
Two J-10 lined up before take-off on a summer noon... It seems no more story about this scene:p

Very nice atmosphere! Congrats on the header.

I have a feeling that the second J-10 looks too big (wide) compared to the first one. Perhaps its a 2-seater?

I like the canvas texture. But by using it you 'destroy' details of your painting. Or you are hiding details that you did not paint ;)

Like Ronnie I also vote for that H-5!

Congrats on the header!
I'm not a big fan of the canvas texture either, but only because I know it is filter-ized 3d. It has a great look though!

Thanks for all the comments! And thanks for taking it to the header!
The canvas texture is just an attempt and I'll decide whether I should use it in the next work...

jiverson, this is freehand, not 3d, although that WIP thread began from a 3d model:p

franken, the two J-10 are both single-seater. That feeling maybe due to the long focus of the camera, or the error of the perspective;)
And, there are no more details indeed...

Ronnie, H-5 is a great choise. I'll do it these months surely, maybe 2d:lol:
I also want to creat a scene about the collision between J-8II and EP-3 on Apr 1 2001...

...franken, the two J-10 are both single-seater. That feeling maybe due to the long focus of the camera, or the error of the perspective;) ...

Ahh I was afraid of this answer. A 'real' traditional painter has no idea about long focus cameras! It should have a real-eye focus distance (50mm). But thats just my opinon and you are the boss, because you are the artist :)

First the Hong-5. That Orion can wait or try to do it together with Kiwi. I have a feeling that he will do a dutch Orion some day...

A 'real' traditional painter has no idea about long focus cameras! It should have a real-eye focus distance (50mm).Then the plane should be very small as well ;)
I really don't like 50mm on planes - or character art for that matter. 70mm or 85mm is much more tasteful and the main choice for portrait photography for that very same reason.

That Orion can wait or try to do it together with Kiwi. I have a feeling that he will do a dutch Orion some day...I don't know about Wiek, but I might :)
I've worked a bit on them, flown in one and saw them almost every day as a teenager. I love that plane :)
Such a shame the Dutch ones are no more :( Bloody politicians... :frown:

It's a lovely image - one that I can really see hanging on someone's wall.

But I do agree with Skyraider's earlier comment (and similar to what I said in the 3D thread) - it dosen't need the canvas texture in my opinion.

Well deserved header nonetheless!:)

I've worked a bit on them, flown in one and saw them almost every day as a teenager. I love that plane :):

Are you speaking of the Orion? One of my best friends was on an Orion crew here in Maryland. He said when they got a new co-pilot or pilot, they would wait until he was at a safe altitude and they would run back and forth to the tail area. I guess you get a couple of 200+ pounders running back and forth and the pilot has a fit trying to trim the aircraft? Once they busting some drug smugglers moving large amounts of pot. They painted the nose with a cannibus leaf. It didn't go over so well. Obviously they had to repaint it.

Those J10 look pretty mean. Nice job. Personally I like the canvas effect. It would probably fetch more coin printed on canvas as well.

Are you speaking of the Orion?Indeed :) They seem to be quite a handful on landing - hard work! Our pilot appeared like he was fighting mad turbulence, yet the plane was moving smoothly in a straight line :)
The Dutch Orions were recently sold to Germany. One of them had the inside of the radome painted red-white-blue shortly before delivery. I wonder if the Germans have discovered it yet!

Started anything new yet, Gang?

Started anything new yet, Gang?

Back in the day, we were putting together something to try to explain some of the threories. We were trying to get something decent out there before some hack slapped something together for CNN(which happened anyway). I have the rough animations somewhere. I was tasked with the J8. Don't laugh too hard though, it was waaaayyy back in the day and I had to cheat a little and hack parts off an Infographica Mig. I grabbed the canopy and cockpit. It was actually an interesting story. It's too bad it ended the way it did. I didn't have much reference available and I was trying to get it ready in less than 16 hours. We abondoned the project when billable work started flowing through the door again.

It takes real balls to be a fighter pilot. Even more balls to find ways to deter outside aircraft without outright shooting at them. Our theory was showing the "thumping" method. I talked to a pilot that used to escourt big bears away from the cost on occassion. He said if they didn't back off from the normal visual signals, he would fly under one wing and another jet would fly over the top of the other wing of the the Tu-95 and they would force a turn. Maybe he was full of crap, but I thought I had seen photos of that somewhere.

Whether an animation or a still image, I look forward to seeing more of your work Songbird.
