I'm looking for a good top view of a Wellington, in the same fashion as this one of a Heinkel:
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/4/44/Heinkel_He_III_over_London_7_Sep_1940.jpg/300px-Heinkel_He_III_over_London_7_Sep_1940.jpg
I've looked through everything I could find on Google, hopefully someone here has a private stash.

Also looking for a top view of a Waco CG-4A as the air photo I have is nothing like the reference drawings I have - the tail is too long and the wing tip shape is different. Also the canopy is crushed, it appears. I'm suspecting it could be a CG-15, but I don't know how to tell:

In fact, how about we make a thread with top views of any aircraft? Might come in handy for someone...

You've heard the man. If you come across a perfect top view photograph (not drawings) of an aircraft, post it here. It may be of great help cross-checking scale drawings for shape and accuracy.
B-17G topview: http://afhra.maxwell.af.mil/photo_galleries/aaf_wwii_vol_vi/Photos/00910460_196.jpg
And why restrict to top views? If you find (near-)perfect side views, front views, etc..., they're welcome too. I.e....
***** Post your orthographic aircraft photos here! *****

A practical application of a Mustang photo can be seen here. Note how it instantly highlights flaws in scale drawings.
Ignore the wing mismatch though, as this is not a perfectly perfect side view photo, but it's still useful for things like the tail fin.

PS. If this thread develops well, I may start a new one and put all findings in the first post and make it a sticky.

Also the canopy is crushed, it appears.Looks like the noses are opened.

Hehe, cheers :)
Next Mustang I'll model will be an A or a B/C though, which have slightly different wings ;) I'll be using factory drawings for that one too. But that's still waaaaaay in the future, plenty of other aircraft to be built first! :)

Send me a list of the aircraft you need cross-sections, along with their locations in the US. I might be able to scan them while I am scanning some other aircraft across the US.
