Looking at some of the other superb ships here i very nearly didnt post this....

Ive never really modelled a ship before, im more of a tank guy, so this is a new experience for me...
Ive seen a few other 3d Bismarcks but they never really seem to go into any real detail with the modelling, so i figured id have a go.

Im using an uber detailed 1:200 scale model for reference.

i havent used maya in over a year so my modelling skills are a bit rusty, but as you can see its getting there... slowly (4 days work so far).

+im leaving the modelling of the hull `til last as from a geometry standpoint its by for the hardest to model.

That's looking quite good, though I think your guardrails are much too chunky at the moment. Usually they just had wire rope strung between the stanchions and tensioned.

Looks like a good start.

I agree that the guardrails are not quite right, also the baltic stripes did not continue up to the funnel cap (which apparently was metallic grey). One other thing, the bags on the gun appertures were removed after trials - looking at the turret roof colours, you are building her as she appeared in Rheinubung, therefore you don't need them.

I'm looking forward to seeing more - hope I don't sound too critical - and it's great that you haven't stopped modelling!:)

It looks like you are doing a great job to me. The Bismark was truly magnificent ship. I think you will do her justice.
