Viewport graphics setting

Since I put Max on my new PC, the graphics have looked odd (coarse) in the normal wievports. How can I reset it back to high graphics resolution?
I can't start any new projects with these settings as all my background images is useless, but of course, fine when rendered.
Shouldn't be a performance problem as my old 'pc ran it fine, with high res.
I guess it's just a setting, funny though, never adjusted that on my old PC..

custromize->preferences->viewports->configure driver

here you can set the resolution of the images
(i´ve 1024 + match bitmap size....
and
512 + match bitmap size....)

after this you have to restart max

Knew it had to be somewhere around preferences/driver section, I just couldn't see it..
