Here's a couple of depictions of P-38 "Battle Axe". The two different backgrounds were offered to a client and he decided to go with the rocky one. I had to put the main subject close to center as the image will also be used as a cropped 16" x 24" size. The client wanted something similar to my "Duck" painting with a P-38 low to the water. The one with the bluer background I did for myself.

Paintings size is 20" x 24", 300dpi.

Very nice. I prefer the background on the first, but the lighting doesn't work. On the second the integration is much better, but the background somewhat distracting.

Excellent stuff Falcon...really like this one. You paint great looking backgrounds also. I prefer the background on the second image but both are really well done and not much between them.

Thanks for the comments guys. I appreciate it very much. That second one looked a little busy in the background to me too. I wanted to see what kind of feedback I got. I took out the rock formation that was in front of the P-38. It was kind of limiting the direction of travel of the airplane. I think this opens it up more.

I re-scaled the size of the Zero in the first image to better match the the altitude of the Lightning in relationship to the water. It was a bit too small previously. I also brought back some darker shadows in both images.

Excellent work! The backgrounds are stunning - but I'd like to see the background faded out a bit, just to make the Lightning a bit more prominent and to add a little more depth. Just my personal opinion you understand:)

I added a shadow under the Zero to give it a little altitude.

Hmm, I'd remove it again as the scale doesn't match the background. I thought it was fine before :)
