Well ive decided to convert my HM 1 merlin to a Mk3 utility version. all the new merlins rolling of the production lines are the ramp equiped ones so it gives me a lot more scope with this model (and to be honest with you the Mk3 variants are a lot better looking)

Its a fair bit of work for the conversion so i thought i'd start a new thread:D So far ive started work on the fuselage re-doing the tail and putting the new windows in it also ive been fixing the mesh as ive learned a lot since doing the Mk 1 !!;)

next step is to remodel the undercarriage sponsons and adjust the head

cheers guys

Paul

One question giant551, can you begin the new thread with some xsi modeling tutorial step by step?

Good luck giant, I don't know anything about this chopper but it will be interesting to watch the modification take shape.

Don't forget there is my XSI aircraft video's ;)

I'm afraid kslmn this ones a little too far gone to start doing a tutorial with but see how you get on with the video's and if you have any XSI questions don't hesitate to ask.

Yep, best of luck with this - should be interesting to watch. Nice to see the starting wire:)

Kslmn: are you thinking of switching to XSI too?

Thanks giant for your effort making those video but Rapidshare is really so slow, all I wanna know is how can you keep the 4 point poly that well with xsi, many time when i try to separate the edge to add details and I made 5 a more point polygon, and it's not that cool exporting the mesh to the other software.

Lukem, I'm a very xsi newbie, I just get the software 2 or 3 months ago and I can't find time to read the whole manual, xsi is a so big stuff and i need time to practice, otherwise I use Lightwave and modo, sometimes on Maya too, but xsi looks really cool for animation so far and the workflow is fine too, anyway I'm a curious guy and I try to discover the new toy:P

hello just a little update:D

kslmn well getting rid of 5 sided poly's is a pain in any package you use, its just a case of keep going back when you have finished adding the detail and the cleaning up the mesh. It does get easier promise:D As i said with this project the Mk 1 merlin i did i look back at some parts of the mesh and shudder:lol:  I will be revisiting it after this one:lol:

Nice transformation adding, and thanks for the advice, I better make a whole project only on xsi to get practice.

Kslmn: I've just bought Foundation and have no idea how to use it yet. I'm trying to finish the C4D projects first before I get too stuck in...:D

Paul, any luck with the DVD as yet?

Ok well i'm coming on with the mesh now still got the ramp to do and some more detailing but its coming on now. Ive also done a fair bit of work re-doing the mesh of the Mk 1 as well so both models have had a pretty good revamp.

Anyway heres the 2 models together so you can see the differences:)

Ok so opologies for this thread turning into a merlin free for all:) But ive done a load of work on the Mk1 over the last couple of days and i'd thought i'd show you what ive been doing.

As you can see its had a new coat of paint plus a major rebuild of a lot of the mesh. Its now got lots more detail including rescue hoist and little things like weapon carriers in the stations and door hinges..... and loads of other tweeks.

Anyway i'll get back to the Mk 3 very soon.:) And please forgive me if your getting sick of seeing this:lol:
