Hi there.
My first post on MM.
There is a little modeling of some details to be done. Partially textured. Modeling and UV mapping done in Blender 2.44, texture Photoshop.
Any comments welcome.

Welcome to MM, fantastic looking model! 2 little things stand out right away, the size of the main gun looks a wee bit too big, I think it should be slightly narrower towards the end. The MG housing looks like it could be a tad bigger but perhaps that's just the angle. Texturing looks really good so far. :)

Hm, i dont know. All proportions are exact from blueprint, so maybe it's bad angle of view or something like that.

Probably just the angle I'm seeing it :) Great job, I love the detail you've done.

small update :p

Very nice. The textures look a bit low-resolution though?

murmur

You think so? I haven't much experience. Textures are 1024*1024 separately for turret and hull. Where is the"low resolution" most visible?

The text on the turrey looks very soft, which is what gave it away.
Texture resolution all depends on what size you want to render at. I render for 15-20" wide prints at 300 dpi, so my textures need to be about 5000 pixels wide.
1024 is quite low though. It will hardly allow you to make a desktop wallpaper.

so i have to remake all textures to higher resolution  ? could 2048*2048 work for 2000 pixel wide picture (72dpi)? is there any method to calculate suitable resolution of textures?

is there any method to calculate suitable resolution of textures? It's pretty simple. You have to decide what the largest image is you're planning to make and/or if you plan to do any close-ups. Always have more pixels in your texture than in your image. So if you plan on doing a 2000-pixel image (without zooming in!), then 2048 is enough. If you want to make prints, then you're likely to need more.

Hi
Very Nice Modelling, But I Think The Tracks Are Little Too Tight, Above The Wheels It Should Be Hang Down Little.

small update, textures 2048x2048. some materials are not yet tweaked, especially tracks and wheels.
pearhaps i'll do something with tight tracks, but i havent seen too much tanks of this type with loose tracks

I agree with Matchias - the tracks need to be a bit looser (otherwise they would break up over rough ground).

The turret looks great!

better one?

much better..

i would do them a bit more... (looser that is...)

i tried to find some images of T34-85 with more loose tracks, but i failed. i think, it's enough. if you have seen some references with loose tracks, please let me know.
btw. thanks for all replies and advices

looks like a very nice model. i'll suggest adding some extra detail to the mudsplatter. the texture looks a bit blurry currently. some stains would add a bit extra life as well.

new version.
please, add comments about the model, i'm going to finish it.
about materials, i'm going to model rough dirt and mud, because bump maps and displacement didn't work.
thanks for all comments, sorry my english
p.s it's not finished scene, only 'background'

The meshes and towcables arnt gold in colour ? its just steel and would most likely be painted along with the tank.

well, while i do like the tank itself (except for the gold colored cables, which, IMO, should be rusty), the balding mans grass has GOT TO GO.

nice work on the "fencing"...

murmur

this grass is only "background", it has nothing with final scene.
