Hello
Here is one of my latest illustrations
It depicts Greek Light Troops of the early 4th Century BC, the consequence of Iphicrates reforms.

This is pretty nice:) Like the gold and the skin finish you did, very realistic colouring.
But somehow it misses shadow, the clothing lacks depth. Boots and the vest the middle guy is wearing, the clothes look like they are just flat layers.
Shadow of the arrow of the guy to the left is also a bit weird in colour. Try to use the tone of the skin and darkening that like in real life, instead of using grey:)

Hope this helps, but the image and finishes are very nice.

Hello
Many thanks on your comments.
The shadow comments are very interesting because that is an area were my work needs improvement, I will try your advice in my next illustrations: Thank you.
The painting of clothes is also a challenging area of my work; do you have any specific advices on improving the quality of work, in this area?
The colouring of skin is an area that I have been improving for some time: I am glad you liked it.
I am always trying to improve the quality of my work; comments like yours are very helpful to me, because I am entirely self-taught.
I am still defining a personal style of drawing, composition and painting and all feedback is helpful.
Many thanks.

I thinnk the clothes, especially the folding is done very nice. Not much people that get that right actually:) A good tip for the other parts is imagening which clothes will be on top of eachother, and which will be below, and make the shadows according to that thought.

For instance the middle guy where the red vest meets his white "skirt". The red armor would cast a more darker shadow on the white skirt, mainly to the left since your sun seems to be at the right side considering the shadows on the faces. BUT the red armor also has shadow on itself in the bottom since it is rounded at the bottom (so it seems). So you'll have shadows on both parts of the clothing.
As of now it looks a bit "glued" on to me like in southpark, just to flat pieces put over eachother :).
But you sure have talent especially if you self taught.
