Hi all,
glad to see this place is up and running again.

Here's my latest pic: The Nakajima Ki84 - a fighter used by the Japanese Imperial Army in World War II. The Allied codename was "Frank". Modeled and rendered with C4D9.5. The background is an edited part of a photo by "Jo T".

Nice. A bit of an unusual angle for the image, but it works well. The only thing thats buggin me is that the props look a little too static...

Nice work Bazze, but what about letting it bank towards the camera ?

Nice work Anders, and great subject!

Some minor comments:
- Blue sky looks rather grainy compared to the rest of the image
- The fuselage looks a bit too tall
- The propeller looks odd, with the top two blades being much more transparent than the bottom two
- The colour of the propeller is incorrect (should be bright green if I remember correctly)
- The shape of the droptanks needs tweaking, as they're a bit too slim and the rear needs to be more pointy. Also I believe that they usually were yellow or light blue, but perhaps grey was possible too?
- The exhaust stacks look a bit too thin and round (they're flattened), and their placement is slightly off (quadruple stack should be lower) - but now I'm nitpicking :)

All very minor comments as overall it does look like a Hayate.

Nice work Bazze, but what about letting it bank towards the camera ?Quite like it the way it is :) Many people want to show the top of the wing, but often it's not the most favourable or convincing angle. It depends on the background I guess, but often topviews appear "forced" onto the background and the flight angle doesn't feel natural - the way it is now, it does. I hope I make sense :)

This is a very nice image, it actually reminds me of skyraider's style. I would agree with the points made about the prop but thats always a difficult one to get right. I wonder if the image might benefit from another ki84 in the background? All said and done it's lovely plane depicted in a cool render.:)

I wonder if the image might benefit from another ki84 in the background? That said, how about changing the attitude to slightly climbing, with a large number of distant contrails... As if the Ki-84 is climbing up to meet B-29s over Japan.
Either way the image does have a nice sense of urgency, which I think would be lost when showing the topside. No time to pose... gotto hurry! ;)

By the way Anders, what dictates your subjects? Just personal preference? There's been a nice variety.

thanks for the comments guys!

yes I see what you mean about the propeller - I used motion blur on the propeller blades and spinner so I guess the upper two blades look the way the do because of the angle. Yes it should be light green but a black one looked better (a detail I changed).

Nitpicking - No probs! I expect it here! :D

The mesh is pretty simple and not very high poly. Here's a picture showing how the mesh looks like:

I usually get comments that my ariplane renders look drawings. This is not my intention but I think it is OK and that it fits the subject. I will have to completely rethink how I set up the lighting in Cinema4D in order to make it look more realistic.

Admin: could you please add a polish icon to the message icons pls :)

I'll probably make more renders together with another Ki84 or maybe with an older model. Playing around with possible arrangements is great fun!

Some are personal preferences and some are requests. The Ki-84 and P40 are content requests from the Poser community.

I don't know the plane, but do know your site and your previous work,so I now expect more wonders from you.
I like the way you've set it up, don't think it's unnatural at all, more like an actionshot. I do think it's a bit strange that there is such an 'hard' shadow underneath the tail and a bright spot underneath the main wing. Either I don't understand the angle of your plane or the sun is behaving strangly in your renders...

EDIT: duh, I failed to see that there was already a page 2, I'm talking about your first render...

Nice picture. The angle of the picture is quite unique and brings a new perspective to the picture. The plane looks great.

I may be wrong here (lent my Hayate Maru Mech to a friend) but the inlet above the spinner looks odd to me, in the inflight picture.

yes you are right Spinner. The edges of the intake should be softer and no as edgy as I have made them.

Nice render I think facing the camera a bit more would probably make the prop look a bit better without really doing anything. This is your first japanese plane how do you like them. I like how on Japanese planes the wings flow into the body more and the big prop hub. Makes me want to redo the Raiden and make a better version or finish and touch up my KI-100.
