I was thinking of trying to model this weapon...would it be to late to see a wireframe?

sorry, but i don't understand this. for me the G36 is one of the worst guns in the world. how did we (my comrades and i) say during our service-time in the army: 30 warning-shots and one aimed throw! the good old G3 is, as far as i'm concerned, much better, not only because the G3 has a bigger caliber (7,62x51 mm) then the G36 (5,56x45 mm). one of my friends, he served in another unit, made a comparison between the two: they fired at a moving target from about 200 m away. there was a quite strong wind blowing at that day.first they fired with the G36, NO BULLET hit the target, then the G3. target destroyed...

any questions?

uh yeah.... well.. 200 metres is a bit long for the G-36.... it's not designed for that... it's more of a close in weapon.... and let's not forget.. the G-3 weighs significantly more... a lot more.... and it's very hard for someone who is not 6 feet tall to shoot.... so.... it's a choice.... i'd rather have the g-36... and be able to shoot more and carry less... and yeah... ok... i take my chances that some tall dude with a g3 will shoot me.... hmmm... gee.. urban environment.... 200 metres? not likely..... just my opinion mind you....

alright, i see what you mean and your items aren't wrong but at least one item is wrong: the fighting distance for the G36 is about 500 metres, or is supposed to be that far. for the closed in area there are Uzis and the good old MP5, but the MP5 is only for special forces like the KSK

that's not what i know... fighting distance is a maxiuim of 300 metres and less... and that's not optimum. i wouldn't want to be put in a situation where i had to be shooting more than 200 metres with a G-36, that's for sure. Especially on a windy day. That said... the addtion of a built in scope certainly does help matters. At 300 metres with an iron sight, you'd have to be a super marksman to hit a moving target. and i think we've worn this one out. this sight isn't about how good or bad a gun,. plane or tank is... (at least not in this section)... it's about how good or bad the model is... and this one is pretty damned good.

Are you shure you compensated for the wind and range?
The 7.62 in the G3 have as you said a bigger bullet therefor heavier, so it is not so sensitive for wind as a 5.56 bullet is.
But the 5.56 is faster.

It is no problem to hit targets moving or standing still up to 500 - 800 metres with a 5.56 bullet, if there is no wind.
I did that alot of times during my military service, moving metalic targets no live targets.(except that time some refugees from a nearby refugeecamp picked mushrooms on the shootingrange.)
Sweden uses the Nato 5.56X45 to.

But thats why sniper rifles are 7.62 and over, it is more reliable at long ranges.

There was an shooting accident her in sweden in the 90's, one recruit shot a round from the hip with his AK5 (5.56) and killed a driver in a moving car about 2.5km from the shooting range and there were a hill in between so he didn´t even see the car.
The Police investigators said that if the driver have had his side window up, he would be alive now.

SO, it is possible to hit moving targets with 5.56 up till ~2800metres.
.........

By the way, nice model. :)

hehehe. Thats just a lucky shot (or unlucky in this case). I bet you could fire a pretty long range with a 9mm if you wanted too. Allthough accurate between 25 / 50 meters is max. depending on you pistol and amount of gunpowder you put in the bullet.

Yes, a very lucky/unlucky shot indeed.

The swedish 9mm smg kpist m/45 (a lovely smg by the way) have a effective range of 270 m, so a handgun should have a shorter range a smg(less cordite in the bullet).

It´s proven in war by the green berets in the Vietnam war, they had the only silenced version...manufactured on license by Smith & Wesson. :)

But now it´s very very offtopic :)
