This is the FC-1 a new Chinese fighter. A bit about it; it is still in the prototype stage so there are no insignia yet. I had a choice between this or primer yellow.:p The concept came from the scrapped Mig 33 project to make a new lightweight fighter. This plane has avionics from of all places GEC Marconi. (I worked for them for a while in the states)

Rendered in Bryce modeled in Wings. (all control surfaces work. ) Textured in Photoshop and bryce. The Chinese writing on the wing means "Courageous Dragon."

Another case of limited referances. Got a nice 3 view and a couple photo's in a magazine here and gave it a go. It is very clean because the referance pics I had the plane was clean. Looks liek an enamel paintjob on the photo's like a T-38 cleans up easy. Production planes will of couse look different.

This model looks much cleaner - your modeling skills in Wings3D are improving! The pilot looks stiff though.

The Bryce renderer is pretty limited but I think you could improve the lighting by adding an additional light source for highlights. Maybe try to turn off the Bryce sun and use a light dome + one strong light.

Thanks Bazze. I did do a half dome behind the camera to simulate GI. Take a look at the intake and how dark it is and take a look it is backlit. I did go with one light source which was a judgement call mostly due to the size of the render having the terrain so far away etc. :(

What I used is 16 lights in a half dome behind the camera and the sun. I should have made a new modern pilot I actually can make decent people. He is stiff and low poly and not ready for his closeup. (around 2K polies including the seat) That means I have to go make all new pilots.:D

For me plane has a little to clean surfaces (no visible panels and lines). But at all looks very good. I'am interesting in chineese aircrafts, so it will be great help to have your render in my collection.

And about Bryce - very good background (or rather enviroment in this case). I had never reach such skill in working with this soft. It because its renderer was always to slow for me:D.

Oh, and I love your Avatar!

Thanks MRYS. I like the stuff I have seen of yours so far really great. I like 30's open cockpit planes like the Peashooter or I-15 or the one in your aviatar. (I know its a Arado that is all)
The few pthots I have with this paint scheme the plane does look quite clean. I probably coudl have added a few based on what I see on the primer version. I am an ex patriot over here ther eis a very cool aviation magazine here that I got the referances from It has a 3 view adn a series of phtos of the development. They also often include a century series fighter this month the Thud. ( I did a thud before) I am still toying with doing a Vodoo too I think I will go on and do some other modeling now for a while.
Bryce is good at a few things there are somethings that I don't like so much. While it gives you some control over the specular channel the control is at best a bit squirrely. Bryce has a few good presets namly glass presets are quite nice but most of the rest are quite awful. Bryce can handle a lot of imported polygons so that makes it good for users like us. The renderer at times is glacially slow. Lighting is limited and you have to be crative and come up with new lighting schemes light domes adn balls and light arrays to simulate effects other programs do automatically like GI and soft shadows. I spent 100$ on it back in 2001 and made the plane in a open source free program. Competing programs are Vue D esprit and Mojoworld. They each have their advantages and disadvantages. Want to give mojoworld a spin sometime I like wha tI have seen from it. Really need a real program though.
