Hi,

This is my latest. It depicts a (I)UH-1 of the Dutch Navy flying in to find a ship caught in the storm. The (I)UH-1 stands for Italian Huey. It was the Agusta Bell AB-204 which was flown in the navy role as well as search and rescue.

I totaly agree !

If you intend to print those kind of pictures, can I suggest to do it on a canvas (foto.com do it) I think it could be great.

Very nice, maybe the ship is a bit "roughly" detailed. But it works in this scene, with it's overall roughness (except for the Huey of course).
(Really, when I saw the thread I'd hoped for a Do-24 scene :) )

I like it, the mood depicted by the colours is helpless and cold, so I think you were going for that:)
And also I like how you painted the ocean, and yet you did not paint an ocean, its a neat trick!

Primer: from 1962 to 1978 ! And I guess we still sort of do with the 412s

Joep: Yeah, hehehe, weird huh.

Panaristi: I don't understand ?!

Nils: Roughly detailed ? It's a variation on my flakboot, it's got loads of details including the knots in the rope that tie the flag lines to the masts. I'll post something dornierish soon

Paul: hahahah :P

Gareth: cheers mate

Jkbon: oh yes, I'd like to see this on canvas, could be cool.

Indeed! maybe the reason why I love choppers so much? :)

Watching your drawing carefully I would suggest a more bright red color for the strobo light, would make the chopper much more attractive and livelike...well, just my opinion anyway.

I made a big monography on Italian Navy helo history:

There are also AB-204AS with AS-12 missiles....

Cool profile, looks like quite a lot of extra gear on that one :) ! I've always like the italian navy colours and "logo". I must say it was quite hard to find good reference for the AB-204...

I am also a big helicopter fan, always have been, maybe more so than regular aircraft.

If you need references for AB-204 let me know. I have a small database of images. It would be nice to see one of your works on MARINA MILITARE colors :p

Thanks for the offer Ugo ! Are there AB-204s that have a similar configuration to the one I've done the for koninklijke marine ?

This piece gives me the shivers. In a very positive emotion arousing way. It really makes you feel the cold, fear and helplessness. Truly a master piece.

Oh, and I directly recognized the Narwal. Which made me giggle when I read Nils's post ;)

Thanks Panaristi !

Thanks Zorin, hehe, you have a good memory, I never actually used the Narwal in any finished image before. I will have to with it's full configuration though.

I agree, this is a style I'd like to master myself.
Looks really good (sorry for me babbling away about the "huey", never realizing it was an Agosta :) )

Lovely image Wiek.... it's refreshing to see something a little different. Still trying to decide which I like better, this one or the last. It's pretty even I think.
