View Full Version : Aircraft counting (silly little game)
Skyraider3D

Alright here's a silly little game, which might prove entertaining and even educating. The goal is to count using aircraft designations.
Some minor rules:
- Only use aircraft's main designations (Bf 109 G-6 doesn't coun't as 6)
- You have to use an aircraft of a different country than the previous one (to prevent summing up the USAF straight away!)
- Try finding original entries (we all know the F-16 but did you know the Fokker D.16?)
- Use military aircraft only (prototypes are allowed, as are military helicopters)
- Provide a link with your entry, so people can see what it is (preferably one with artwork or info in it)
I'll start off with the first three to set the example, but after that please one entry per person at a time (until we get stuck ;))
1 - Douglas A-1 Skyraider (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A-1_Skyraider)
2 - Mitsubishi J2M Raiden (http://www.ne.jp/asahi/airplane/museum/cl-pln3/FR051.html)
3 - Fokker S.3 (http://www.dutch-aviation.nl/index5/Military/index5-1%20S3.html)
Good luck! :D
PS. I occasionally will bust in to keep the thread 'clean', so please don't be offended if I change some things ;)

You guys are making a mess :)
The Do-14 Kiwi posted wasn't military.
Y1C-14 was the American designation, so we eihther can't have that or we can't have the F-15 ;) The Fokker 14 however was civilian.
Here's an alternative :)

What a pity the adora is out of bounds. One of my faves.
Can't think of any other and I already broke the manufacturers rule with the Lipisch prototype.
There may not even be a Cessna for this one. Heli' maybe?

Somebody find proof that the Cessna 196 had military users and we're sorted ;)
The Cessna 195 was used as the C-126 in the USAF. A lovely little machine, much nicer than the Cessna I posted earlier ;) The 196 version had a bigger engine but I don't know of any military users of the type...
So where we are now? 195 or 196?

We seem to have reached an impasse. I'd be willing in this case to accept the Arado Ar 196 to get the thing moving again.....
Or we could assume that some users of the Cessna 195 were actually using 196s, as the only difference is the size of the engine (195s were probably uprated to be useful to the military anyway).
I think, that accept for Ar 196 is good idea.
