Hello! My name is BB43MAN. I'm the historian for the USS TENNESSEE Reunion Association. I'm new here and I really enjoy the great work on this site.

I have a request by not only myself, but by the WWII vets who served aboard the TENNESSEE. We have a new museum located in Huntsville, Tennessee. We are new and small but growing. To get to the chase, we need some help in some displays. I was wondering if anyone here would like to donate some of their time and talent in helping to re-create some interior renders of rooms that haven't been seen in over 60 years from the battleship TENNESSEE. As historian I have the builder's blueprints and line drawings and over 800 photos of the ship and can provide input on where certain details are. Unfortunately, I don't have the capability to create works of art, like you fine folks.

We are a non-profit museum and only want to have some "photos" on the areas within the ship so these 80 plus year-old vets can look upon them and see the places they fought the war in. Also these renders could give visitors to the museum an idea where these fine men fought during WWII.

I would appreciate any help and all work would be credited in the museum. I hope I haven't crossed any lines here and wish all of you well. I look forward to your reply and if you have any questions, please email me at my address. Thanks in advance to all.

Thread moved.

Fantastic idea. I just wish I had the time to be able to help out. If your still looking for help in a few months time, I might be available for some smaller jobs.

Good luck with your project.

It sounds like a great project.

What sort of timescale are you looking at?

Any timescale is fine. We at the museum can wait for however long it takes. I have the blueprints of all rooms in the ship and details of them too so the work wouldn't be all that difficult. Just in the details.

I was hoping for some of the rooms rendered to be the Mess Deck, Living qtrs, Crew's head, Gun turrets, Engine Room, Boiler Rooms, Captain's Qtrs, Sick Bay, CIC, etc. Something to give the public that visits the museum an idea of what the men went through. Also, we have about 150 vets in the reunion association that would get a thrill out of seeing their old haunts once again.

Thanks and keep the questions coming. I eagerly await all help. Your volunteering will not go unforgotten.

If I may suggest, attach a small sample picture or blue print, to give an idea of the scale and detailed work your looking for.

I'd agree with what Chukk has asked, but notwithstanding that, I may be able to help with some of the modelling, if someone else here could texture and light them.

Thanks for the feedback so far. The plans I have are the offical Navy builders plans from 1945. They are in 1/192 scale and can be enlarged to any scale desired. They are extremely detailed. I also have some copies from microfilm of certain rooms that show layout, furniture placement and the like. They aren't scaled but can be very easily with a copier enlargement. I also have some photos of certain rooms but they are old and black and white. It would be nice to have something larger and more detailed.

I don't know how to post pics here so unless someone can help direct me on how to do it, I can email some samples to you personally. Contact me through the personal messages and I can get those to you.

Thank you all so much so far. I really look forward to your helping our museum. :D

Would it be a sort of one person - one room assignment?

I'm not sure. I have asked for details to build one room, but I've not received anything as yet.
