View Full Version : Opel Blitz WIP
Well, this came about as I wanted something for my L4 Grasshopper to look for. It has the added advantage that it can be made into a tanker for any airport scene...
Anyways, it's time for some texturing.

Nicely done. It's detailled enough to stand up well in any airport scene you may decide to do with it. Looking forward to seeing the textures on it.
Thanks lads.
Due to vacations I've been "slow" on updating...
This is what it looks like today.:)

Very nice!
Where can I find good blueprints of blitz?
Thanks, Pipo.
Well, I didn't have any really good blueprints to be honest.:\
There are some 3-views on the net, but they're not that great. I worked from them and also looked a lot at some sites for scale modellers (amongst others one for 1:6 scale).
I think there is a book on this subject, but as to blueprints or such in that one - I don't know.

This site (http://www.smcars.net/forums/) has tons of blueprints in varying quality.
Right, a wee update. Textures fixed on tyres, windscreen and crates. Added number of crates for Flak 12.8 cm ammo and wipers while I was at it...
Think I'll fix a tarpaulin as alternative, and then it will be time to but this babe in contact with the Grasshopper...;)
Mathias, I did look at smcars but all they had on Blitz was pix of 3DS max model. I think that site mainly cater to the more modern, "racy" type of cars.

As usual I can't stop - just had to do a tanker too... Like I said earlier "small" modification and whoops there's a tanker.
Updates so far is slight reposition of steering wheel, wipers touching windscreen and nor hanging in the air, doorhandles where wrong way.:\
Not to mention tarpaulin and tanker assembly of course.

That's a very good looking Blitz, Rags. Epscially convincing tyres. Would you mind telling what colour codes you've used (RGB) for the tyres?
But I think the darker stripes on the canvas cover should be toned down (now it looks a bit like cork pattern... ) but apart from that minor thing, just great.
I also belive the scratching level is just about right, maybe some more scratching/bumping on the fender (just a tad) would be natural..
Thanks Nils,
The colour on the tyres is actually a bitmap, flat projection, of a dirty off road tyre. Thread is part of tyre model. Also added Cinemas dirt effect in the diffusion channel. In the specular channel I made a wide (87%), low (15%) specular with a 2% falloff. Finally I put the specular colour to RGB 255,255,200 which is rather yellow.
As to the tarp and fenders - you're right they need some attention. ;) The honest answer is - I haven't finished the texturing yet. I have to do some more detailing.

OK thanks, I'll keep it in mind for my projects :)
Ahhh, well, I sort of got carried away. I just had to do a B-tanker out of this one. These tankers did not have pumps installed - they had them on a trailer. Sooo, I had to make a trailer.
