Photoshop problems...

I am by no means an expert in Photoshop, so I have been having a few issues lately with v7.0 trying to make my first 2D profile drawing.

First off, I cut and paste a simple line profile to a new layer on top of the background. Then I creat a 2nd layer for the aicraft color. In this 2nd layer I go to the color chart/swatch to pick the color I want, but it will only return a grey color even if I had picked a bright red. Basically, for my color layer PS will not let me pick a pigment with color. What gives?

It sounds like your new image is set as Grayscale. Go to Image > Mode and set it to RGB.

To prevent this in the future check the settings when you select a new file to past your drawings into. It's in the new file interface.
