Another pen scetch I did in the '80's of the famous battlecruiser "Von der Tann" another of Hipper's battlecreuiser of the Hoch See Flotte. It participated in both the Dogger Bank incident in '15 and the most famous naval battle the huge clash at Jutland in '16 where the British and German main fleets were drawn to fight each other for the first (and only) time. It must have been an awesome sight when 28 battleships, 9 battlecruisers, 9 armored cruisers, 26 light cruisers, 78 destroyers, 1 minelayer, 1 seaplane carrier from both navies, steamed past and blasting away on each other with their heavy guns..
Von der Tann also took part in the shelling up the british east coast along with the rest of Hipper's battlecruisers previous to Jutland.
The drawing is reproduced a bit blurred as it's a photo and not a scan (too big for my scanner)
