Hi fellas , i wanna give plane modelling a try after modelling cars.
But i've got no idea what plane to model.
any suggestions
plz mention only modern jets ( F14-F15 ) or WW2 plane's.
Allso do you guys know how i should start with modelling a plane ?
From a plane or a box or a cillender ?
maybe you know a good tutorial ?
Thx :D

Chance-Vaught F4U Corsair
Have fun and see you in a few years :p
Dosen't Max ship with a tutorial on the P38 Lightning? Beyond that, Anders has written a good tutorial on the P47 Thunderbolt: www.colacola.se, and look at Skyraider's threads on sub-d modelling.
Good luck!

from a spline....
If you want easy models, start with tanks, they are pretty squared. Airplanes are far more harder to do because of the organic/streamlined forms.

I usually start from a box, sometimes even plane:) It all depends on the technique you're using. If you aren't familiar with plane modelling and don't know how to start, it's probably better to study some tutorials really.
As to the plane, if I were you, I would model Hawker Hunter:), maybe not so new, but definitely more modern than F4U;)

In the obstacle course in "3d tips best" of I have already stated how I go about modelling a plane.
As far as subjects go only you can decide. I've always thought the P47 D bubbletop a good plane to start with as it has pretty clean lines and some nice fillets to deal with.

Pick one that interests you and then go see if you can gather enough ref material for it.

A long time ago I made a blueprint setup for the Messerschmitt 263 rocket fighter. It's an excellent little plane to learn aircraft modelling from, thanks to its clean shapes. Let me know if interested and I'll upload it for you, together with a reference pack.

SkyRaider could you post the 263 pack you were speaking of. Personally i would like to learn the proper techniques of building a plane and im sure its better than the way i have been doing it.

I've attached both the MAX blueprint setup file and the reference file to this post.
Good luck with your model! :)
