It's supposed to be the render bakery for a low poly flightsim project.
Hints on how to improve materials/shaders are most welcome. :D

Hey Mathias!
Great to see your instruments here.
I've been following their progress on Netwing for ages.

That is really great work. Awesome detail. Any thoughts on modelling the rest of the plane ?
I think the textures look really good but if you want to make it more realistic probably need to add some dirt, oil, grime and paint chipping and maybe make the glass a little dirty too.

Wow! great detail!! can't imagine how much work went into this. Yes, a little dirt, wear and subtle weathering would go a long way if you are going for realism. It looks great clean too!

To me, the only thing to improve is the piece of metal that holds the clock : it looks too reflective to me, but then that maybe the way it was, you surely have better ref than me.
Overall, awesome job :)
Kevjon, the plane exterior model is done.

Mathias may have more recent screenshots though.
Mathias! Here you are:lol:
Any progress with side panels to show?

Looks very nice! I can almost say all the text on those dials out of my head. Had to make them for my Heinkel 111 also ;)

Top job!
I'd get rid of the crossing bumpmap texture on the main panel shape though. I believe in reality it's pretty smooth (airbrushed aluminium).

Wow this looks really good. I understood from the thread at netwings that it is meant for CFS3 or something? I would love a plane with this quality VC in FS9 or FSX! It's on par with the realair Spitfire which I love to fly a lot!

Awesome! Could do with a bit of weathering as mentioned earlier IMHO.
Where did you get the reference from? Have you got one parked in your back garden?:D

Thanks guys!:D
Will come back later and talk a little more, on the run now. ;)

Lukem, there a couple of books out there dealing with German aircraft interiors,
then there's some good reference stuff (drawings, handbooks, standards) over at http://www.luftfahrt-archiv-hafner.de/
Last not least Andy (who posted in this thread) has provided me with lots of closeup photos, thanks to his own library and his connections to collectors.
Fair enough - it's just the way you've got everything in there and legible.
Either way, excellent work!

.......needs a bit of weathering........
Ok, that's the part that's really scaring me since I'm a total Photoshop noob, and I'd hate to unwrap all the nitty gritty stuff.
I'm using 2d textures only for markers and labels so far, everything else are procedurals.
Using Mental Ray in Max 8, two passes, first is complete map, second ambient occlusion, composed in photshop.
The large render is more of a quicky, no global illumination.
The second render (the closeup) has some GI to it.
I may be on the wrong track, but I'm hoping that I can come away without "weather-texturing" the stuff and that GI from within the complete cockpit mesh does ok to add some life to it.
If that fails I'll bite the bullet and learn Photoshop.

Its mainly maintenance scratches and worn screws. A layer in PSP or two seems most straight forward a path. This isnt a 110 but it serves to give the target.

Hmm, but we mustn't forget this is a 66 year old Emil that has gone through a lot more than war so I wouldn't go overboard with it.

Hey G., is "kweet" something holländisch?;)
I would agree.
Infact, whenever we release some weathered FS planes we get particularly harsh critics from WWII vets, saying that their crates did not look like that since there was always time to overspray or repair scratches and such.
