The tugboat Weser is powered by a Voith Schneider Propeller (VSP) http://www.voithturbo.com/vt_en_pua_marine_vspropeller.htm making it a true water tractor. Equipped with such a drive, Weser is highly maneuverable and well suited for ship handling. The tug is equipped with 2 diesel engines which produce a combined rating of about 6,800 HP and it is able to exert 71 tons of bollard pull. Weser is an ocean going vessel and, in addition to harbor work, she is well equipped for deep sea towage, offshore services and salvage operations. Owned and operated by Unterweser Reederei GmbH (URAG) of Bremen, the tug operates primarily out of the port of Bremerhaven.

And here is the version which shows what is going on beneath the waterline.

That is looking really good Mark! I think your water depictions are among the best I have ever seen to be honest :)

My personal favourite is the second one, because I am a fans of cut-aways and technical details, although they are both really good in their own way :D

Very cool, great detail. I'm actually working on something similar myself and those waves ain't easy.

Thank you Ronnie. It doesn't hurt my mentor was a seascape artist. I spent alot of time in my oil years painting ships, seaplanes and seascapes. The water was actually the most time consuming part of the painting.

This was a fantastic piece of work, Mark. Lots of energy. One of the best I've seen.
