Any body have any references for this?
In the 50's this aircraft ( with Navy Markings ) was flown by VMF 132 and 313 out of Floyd Bennet Field, Brooklyn, NY. I worked on these (crew chief) and never could find any info via the Corps since it was evidently 'loaned' to USMC. I finally found one at the Naval Museum in Pensicola.
I'd like to try my hand at doing an aircraft, and this is the only one in which I have an interest. I mainly do ships and old buildings.
Thanx

Look for the book F9F Cougar "Detail and Scale" Vol 16 by Bert Kinzey. Great book with all the details you will probably need. The blueprints in the book look pretty good too.

This is a project I have been researching this plane for a couple of years. Forget the airwar drawings they are way wrong.
I have a bunch of references. Stuff off of the web as well as photos taken of one on display in Maryland. Also I have been promising to scan in all of pictures I took of a f9f8p that is in pieces in south Florida. This version has that long nose but all of the other parts are the same as the F version. When I heard that there was an f9f8 near where i was on vacation in Florida. I went and bought a tape measure and took as many measurments and photos as I could ( or as much as I could before my wife said it was time to go).
Anyone who wants a copy contact me through private message or offline.
Now that I think about it before the great website crash. I think KIWI was going to do a tutorial using the cougar. ;) wink-wink;) nudge-nudge:D .

This book (http://cgi.ebay.com/AIRCRAFT-ARCHIVE-POST-WAR-JETS-Vol-2-Argus_W0QQitemZ6598133621QQihZ012QQcategoryZ96838Q QssPageNameZWD1VQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) has nice drawings of the F9F-8 Cougar. You might be able to find it even cheaper.
PS. Now weren't you doing the Comet? :)
