Do any of you guys play it? I just got my copy and I must say I like it very much, even better than BoB 1.
I just love those massive dogfights and the realism (which also makes the BF109 especially harder to control due to the small wingsurface)
Been flying around for a couple of hours now and I just wish I had my old joystick, because flying with the mous just isnt going well always.
Also since it lacks most indications the massive dogfights are also very tricky, since there are maybe about 230 aircraft wjirling around without friendly or foe indication.
You can however padlock an enemy, which the head of the filot will follow then. But when it gets behind you you get and external view, which is somewhat irritating, I dont know if there is a way to disable this.
Also it lacks a bit of a scoring system in campaign mode, or I just havent found it yet.
But all in all I'd recommend this game very highly if you like realism and MASSIVE dogfights.

uh guys.... this isn't the place for pirate conversations... though not being a moderator, i can't speak for them.... but i certainly don't appreciate it... as someone who makes stuff for games and movies, someone stealing it ain't much fun....

I just read the the first article of the thread. Unless it was edited by the moderator ( stuff taken out). There is nothing in there that says anything about pirating software. There is a statement about turning off ( disable) a function in the software that was annoying. It read like something similar to turning off the sound.

Sorry guys, I wasn't aware of that rule. I just don't have the money to buy any games and probably wouldn't find this one anywhere around me :p

Havent tried it Cobra, but the sim gets a big thumbs up for dealing with large numbers of aircraft well.
I dont fly much anymore. Two fully modded cougars gathering dust. Now I spend more time making stuff for sims. Sort of grew out of things not being exactly how I wanted.
Currently finishing off my obligations for sim models, as I want to do more than the brief allows in modelling. I'll still contribute to one sim, just not modells. Currently mastering controlling atmospheric effects, like downdraft, turbulence etc, with lua scripts in an ellypsoid atmosphere a new physics engine allows. Way cool, the script controlls the pressure, temperature, gas constant, adiabatic constant and wind at the required point (specified in lat/lon/altitude), and can update it's state as time elapses. So you're going to get shaken all over the place as you approach one of my bomber streams from their 6. Downdrafts, wind-shear all become possable.
Think a WW2 PTO sim where the weather is as much threat as the enemy, as it was in the day.

I'm just a strong supporter of "Try before you buy" ;)
Wont happen again :)
Another Battle of Britain game? who's 1C?

It is a good single player experince. Also, you see custom shaders most sims don't support, Normals, Specular, Gloss. Now we just need some good modelers and texture folks who actually know how to use these textures. I'm just learning :)

Yeah - what was the tech specs mentioned on that...
If your computer can run the current il2 series at it's highest setting, you'll have no problems running BOB at it's lowest setting....
Starting to think some game developers going too far too fast in the "eye candy" department. And with Vista coming out- you'll need 1GB Ram just for the OS resources!
I smell a computer upgrade coming on in a few years! LEast by then I might be able to run Bob at the highest settings!

Now we just need some good modelers and texture folks who actually know how to use these textures.I'm currently working on a train simulator game where we use those same materials as well (and self shadowing and cubemap reflections too). It really makes a huge difference. I wish it was a flight sim though... more exciting than trains. I've worked in the games biz for six years now and haven't come close to working on a flightsim yet... :(
I have no doubt that realtime shaders will be the norm because as you said they make a big differnce. It is more 2d work but the results are that much better. Train sim you say? I have often thought I might enjoy those. :)

Well. If you get a DX 10 card all your problems will be over ;)

Not surprising Skyraider.
As you obviously know the golden years of affordable flight sim dev are over.
Its only possable with third world pay rates or semi volunteer labours of love these days. No game dev company that wants to stay in business will touch one.
The only access to work in the area is through networking and then there's little financial reward.

Not if the game developers don't use them ;)
Well they will be the fastest cards on the market, so It doesnt really matter if they use them or not in the beginning ;)

Spinner is dead on. I did several of the textures for ground objects in Pacific Fighters and received little to no compensation. I did get my name in the manual   .
