View Full Version : Black & White
Well,
Here is my second (and not last) picture dedicate to Belgian F-16.
In 1998, to celebrate the 20 years of F-16 service within the Belgium Air Force, the 31Sqn made a "Tiger Meet" scheme and the 23Sqn made this "White Falcon".
very impressive work!
Great model and textures....
:salute:
That is very well done, congrats on a beautiful result!

This is sooo nice! If any recent work deserves a header - this is it!
You have achieved a level of photo-realism that very few reach. I know that the average person would never believe it's not a photo!
Great job!

just one small crit... it would be VERY difficult for the pilots to hold their heads up and away from the headrest at that AOA.... ya know???? hehehe
heheee thanks for the header !
Krazycolin : I thought as you at first, but this pic changed my mind, and some more :

In fact I think the head never touch the headrest (maybe in ejection ?)

Congrats on the header!
Very striking image. Personally I'd lower the lightwrap a little bit as they make the planes looking a bit low-contrast. Also perhaps add some heat haze behind the engines. It will help give a sense of motion.
Lastly perhaps "cheat" a bit with the sky and make the blue darker towards the top.
Great pic!

Is this one better ?

Tough one. I'd say yes for the front most plane, but leave the white one more like it was.
Also increase the blur - especially behind the white plane. I'd go all the way down to the bottom of the image and be quite noticable I think. Afterall you don't climb vertically on idle ;)

Are you sure about this ?
Because I've looked for reference, as the links I've posted in first page, and never see hot air coming from the nozzle  in such climbing position.
Is the engine idle jsut for the photo ? or is there less moisture at these level to see something ? or is it because the background is uniform on these pictures ?
Anyway I will try it ;)

You're right. I looked up some similar pics and it's barely visible. Perhaps the further the backdrop is the less the effect can be seen? On take off pics it's extremely heavy for instance and on high altitude pics it's nearly invisible.
Feel free to shoot me down here, but wouldn't the planes be on afterburner to be even able to perform the maneouvre?

I don't think so :
A glider (no engine) can do a "Hammerhead" (I think it's the english word) : you begin with a quarter loop and follow with a vertical climb, when the glider stops climbing, you pivot 180° around its vertical axis and you go down. (and you can do other aerobatic figures also)
It's just a question of initial speed. Maybe you just use afterburn at the begining of the loop if it's needed ...

This pic was shot in June 2004 during a rather cold day at Volkel.

Like jkbon said, its possable with just a high energy state. But one of the things that singles out the F-16 is, she was the first with a high enough thrust ratio to go over the top anytime. ie over 1:1
