Hi Karras,

If you want other blueprints for the AMX Leclerc, here one of the latest version of it (surely much more accurate for the turret).

Anyway, your job is awesome, continue like that! ;)

Karras
04-26-2010, 7:04 PM
Thank you so much ;) Yes for the turret much better

By the way, if you're stuck in a detail, you can visit this website (http://engins-blindes-francais.wifeo.com/), maybe that could help you as well.

DarkLabor
08-25-2010, 1:43 PM
Yes, we want more! ;)

For tracks, the bolt is at the exterior, the sprocket wheel is not design to receive it on the Leclerc (unlike the M1).

Nice job Karras, I'm looking forward the rest! :)

The turret by now, GIAT 120mm barrel

DarkLabor
09-13-2010, 2:48 PM
You're on a good way!

There is just the Barrel Reference Receiver's armored box wich has no chamfer on the top but on the sides (The first little drawing).

If you want more details on the Barrel Reference Emitter, here two perspective view of it.

There is anothere drawing if you want to detail the part where the gun is rotating.

I hope it will help you to go further. ;)

Karras
09-13-2010, 7:01 PM
Woow !!! Your model it's more sofisticated than mine
I've only two pictures of the nose barrel, and your views are great. ;)
the mine it's very schematic   in Spain is called "colimador " in english lenguague I've no idea
You can put here more views of the your, because with the top of the turret I'm crazy it's more complex forms.

DarkLabor

The barrel Reference System is a laser beam wich measure the way the gun barrel reacts when it is heated. On the Leclerc the emitter is on the end of the gun and the receiver is on the mask.

I'll give as much as I can.
And you can visit that website: http://engins-blindes-francais.wifeo.com/

If you have a specific idea of wich Leclerc you want to model I can give you details on nearly everything.

Pictures will come soon.

DarkLabor
09-13-2010, 8:04 PM
First, the emitter of the BRS:
Photos then on my model with the "mud guard" seperated.

On some photos you can see variations conserning the length of the "mud guards". In fact the longer version is much more used.

On my model, I havn't made the laser emitter because on french tanks it's not needed unlike the UAE version wich is exposed to much more temperature offsets between night and day.

DarkLabor
09-13-2010, 8:15 PM
Now the armored box for the BRS receiver:

On one side you got a smooth surface without anything, on the other, you got holes for screwing the box on the top of the gun.
There is additionnal screw to fit the training device (The seventh screw point is for the "ground" (don't know if its the right word in english)).

DarkLabor
09-13-2010, 8:37 PM
For the top of the turret, it is quite a mess in my pictures collection.
Well! My approach of the thing is to focus on known details and then try to fit the rest with relative proportions. It's a very painfull method but I keep continuing by making my own photos during open doors' days.

As a big fan I could turn around the beast and translate everything I could find in shapes.

By doing this you are able to model that mess.

In the screens of the turrets there are specific armors:
The more extended is the S21 version (the latest)
The middle one is caracteristic for the S2 and the S1 retrofited (RT4 & RT5= Retrofited Tranche 4 and 5)
And the last one is for the old S1 excepted the retrofited tanks.

If you've got more questions or specific photos I will be happy to help you!

Thank for help me. Rebuild the pointer ;)
he,he,he yes are a mess    But it's a challenge do it . Don't think ??

Your model it's great

DarkLabor
09-13-2010, 10:06 PM
Thank you! :D

No problem for the help! It's pretty rare to see somebody modelling that tank.
And basically, I like to see your models evolving.

The turret is a mess externaly speaking because it's not a slab appearance like the M1. And making it in 3D allows to understand the way the tank itself has been made.
That's why I'm doing it externally and internally because I love that peace of triple hardness steel!

Now the High poly model will not evolve for an undifined period. I'm learning how to texture the lowpoly model in Oxygen 2 for Armed Assault Operation Arrowhead (And it's a pain to do it for noobies like me).
