I figured instead of just writing stupid coments, I should finally show that I'm still working on a plane model. I started this one today in modo and it was a breeze! So, that's it, I'm finally switching over.
To the plane, this is probably one of my favorite bi-planes. Probably because it used to be the trainer for army pilots in my home country. Cool little flitzer though, hope I can fly it one day! The model it not going to be super detailed though, it's just going to go into a little animation that I'm working on.

This plane is indeed a tempting modelling subject. I shot a walkaround of one at Duxford some time ago. I'll try to upload it to my website for you :)
I know it's early days still, but the bumps on the cowling need more definition.
Be sure when modelling this to either make the landing gear suspension animatable or to fix it in either a flying or a weight-on position. There is a big difference between these positions. Here's a picture of the former...

Thanks in advance for the update, Ronnie! I'm from Switzerland, and this pretty girl is indeed a swiss design. We don't make many planes, but when we do, they are cool (Venom and Vampire are in that category as well, imo).
The landing gear is going to be fixed in flying position since I wont need it to animate. This version is not going to be very detailed; the animation is going to be more cartoony. But I left the model open so I can always add more detail to it, such as additional support wires and prop detail etc. So the walk around would be very appreciated. Here's a little update. The wings are not subdivided, I can't get the cutouts for the control surfaces to look right.

I looked at that, thank you very much though. But I still get strange results. It's no big deal though. The plane is going to go into Maya for animation. I have no problem to make it look right there by just smoothing the right polys.
