View Full Version : Henschel Hs 129 B
First posting of a Hs129B I'm doing.
Struggling to get the nose right and smooth at the same time.
Interior left to do.

Hi Nils, nice to see your next model:rolleyes:
Are you going to make cockpit with all instruments?

Yeah, getting the nose of this aircraft right is a challenge indeed.

Hmmm quite a few smoothing problems on your model - not just the nose. Perhaps show us a wireframe and maybe we can help?
Great subject :)

Andrzej: Njet :), a simple cockpit will have to do (but I will make the instruments on the nacelles, just not very detailed).
@ Ronnie: yes, I'm aware of those, errors. Will post some mesh renders later.
Thinking of redo the whole nose once again to get it better, but autumn is long and there's plenty of time :). Personally I have always loved the brute look of this little plane.
I'm plan to do a service scene render, when it's finished in the future...
Edit:
Here are a few wires of the nose from front, bottom, side and whole model:
Here a few shots how I plan to have the service scene, I need to make some mechanics caraters too then (never done people before... :) ) plus some vehicles etc....

Interesting project you've got going.
Should be great.
plus some vehicles etc....
Don't take that one lightly. Will cost you even more time than the plane itself.
An update on the Henschel. I have remodelled the nose, still not finished but the overall shape is starting to look right, also some smooting ares left here and there. I like the look of this little brute :)
I also throw along a small progress shot of the planned service scene..
PS what is wrong with my shades? See first shot, where the proeller blade, doesn't cast shadow correctly along the front of the cowling (Ray trace shadows, plus "cast shadow" and "receive shadow" is checked)
Nils!
Maybe you should model any cistern truck ;)
BTW "Njet" is Russian word, but in Polish "No" is "Nie"!
Andrzej from Cracow
"Njet" is Russian word, but in Polish "No" is "Nie"! I knew Andy :) and we say "Nei", pretty close to yours.
BTW not a bad idea, a cistern truck a small Kübel or something plus a small trolly or two some sheds etc in the distance and some rain, hehe. Actually, the vehicles isn't what I have trouble with...worse when it comes to modelling people
A colour test of RLM colours, RLM 72 / 73 / 65 / 02
(there's a few small corrections here and there to the maps) but how are the colours?

The colours for the Hs 129 should be RLM 70/71 over 65.
The dark top colour needs darkening a good bit, and be less blueish.
You're right about the filesize, I have reduced it now, thanks :)
OK, thanks Skyraider. I changed to the 70 / 71 colours I have in my RLM setup, but somehow I feel they are not right, they look to light to me... maybe it also depends on light setting. What RGB mix is yours RLM 70 / 71 at?
This is rendered with a single omni, 1,2 intensity, and raytraced shadows at 25. Specular level at 70 ( I believe)

You are right, both colours need darkening.
PS. The image you upload are quite big. You'll run out of attachment space soon! ;)
I have been playing around a little, but are still not satisfied with my colors.
Has anyone got a "correct" set of RGB codes for Photoshop, the set I have, is not correct. Also a render with winterskin.

Try:
RLM 65: (190,210,220)
RLM 70: (30,40,30)
RLM 71: (40,50,35)
These are colours I made up once, but it all depends on your weathering layers and material and lighting setup. They may give you a good starting point though.
Will do.
Thanks mate, I see my codes were far off...
Started yesterday deleting and remodelling the whole nose area, as it wasn't right

This may help you as well. The following RGB Codes were acheived by scanning the paint chips supplied with Luftwaffe Camoufage And Markings from Classic Colours into Photoshop.
RML 76 158/171/184, RML 70 25/35/43, RML 71 39/44/43

Hmmm... that RLM 70 sample scan came out decidedly blue. Uness your scanner is colour calibrated, it's not a terribly reliable match. But then again, as I said before, it all depends on your weathering and lighting for the render. Best go by what looks good. There's no such thing as "the" RGB value for a colour.
Thanks guys, I realise that the RGB values is just a hint, but when one haven't got a sure source, it's hard to decide what is right
