Hi everyone :)
I'm looking for blueprints of the Fairey F III-D (or any III really).
For photo refs i will visit the only remaining exemplar in the world, displayed at the Museu da Marinha in Lisbon, Portugal (there is a replic at the Museu do Ar also in Portugal).
This plane i wish to build and animate is the "Santa Cruz", one of two hydroplanes used by Gago Coutinho and Sacadura Cabral, the first to cross the South Atlantic Ocean by air in 1922 (some references say 1919), from Lisbon, in Portugal, to Rio de Janeiro, in Brazil.
Any help or idea in finding some info on this plane will be much apreciated :salute:

Welcome back mate ;)
I'm usually pretty well stocked with drawings, but I am afraid not for this one... Good luck!

There'd be something via the 6 the RAAF had. I'll look.
There was a FIII-F on the Hood too, so maybe something there?
Not modelling the Lusitania? She did the hard yards.
There's a team associated with the Museum of Flight (aussie FAA) that are focussed on building a replica FIII-D for the museum. They've finished a Sopwith Camel already and are serious guys. I'll email them tomorrow for whatever help they can give.
Poor neglected Lusitania.

Hi Ronnie, let's see if i can pull this one out :)
Spinner, many thanks for your efforts, it would be great if that Australian team could send some drawings, nothing too fancy, only at the resolution needed to acurately model this plane.
I refered the "Santa Cruz" because it is the best know of the two, afterall it was the one that finished, but you're right about the hard work done by the "Lusitania"... my idea is to make the two really, as they were identical. None will be neglected ;)
I will try to contact someone at the Museu da Marinha to see if exists any material on this, and to grant permission to snap some photos on the plane.

Do you have 'Air Enthusiast' March/April 2006? 'The Roundels File' article is on the Fairy III. It has photos and color profiles of various marks. Of course, perhaps that's what got you started on your search.

'Scale Aircraft Modeling' Volume 22 Number 1, March 2000 has an article of someone building a 1/72 but it is a Fariey IIIF mk.IIIM. Probably not much help but I was looking through a large stack of magazines for something else and it jumped out at me.

The 'Scale Aircraft Modeling' issue has a drawing, it isn't very good and it is evidently not a IIID, but I will scan them over the weekend and email them to you.

Hi everyone
Denders big thanks for searching and scanning of those pages... they will be of great help i'm sure.
Andyf that is a great resource indeed... many thanks for linking to the a pdf.
Skyraider3D your plain right, i have to make some searching on the uk site, maybe i will find some good issues at a grood price.
I saw a nice profile of an III-D of the Royal Netherlands Naval Air Service... very similar plane that the Portuguese used, but with those nice dutch colors :D It's a good one to make after i'm ready with the first...
I'm now planning a trip to Lisbon and take several photos of the plane they have there... i will post some in here.

Never knew the Dutch had these. It was mostly Fokkers back then :)
