Hi everyone,
I am looking for some usable Bf 109 g6 drawings for my next project. I managed to find a set or two, but have been really disapointed with them, so I was wondering if someone could help me with this. I have prepared one set of drawings yesterday by scanning a book I have, but the results are far from accurate... Thank you in advance, and I promise to start a WIP thread as soon as I start the project :)

Check your e-mail...
Looking forward to what you will do with them!
PS. Another 109? :)
PPS. I actually just noticed that the scanner (not mine) screwed those up a bit. I'll send you better ones tonight (if I remember! Do remind me :)).

Great Skyraider, thank you! :) Yep, it's another 109, because the animation I might have mentioned once or twice before the forums crashed is still in the works (slowly but surely ;) ) and we need a 109g6 for it. My previous D model was just a personal project :)

The 109 G-6 is on my to-do list as well, as it was such a common plane. But it's way down the list of things to do...

Ronnie,
Which set of drawings would you consider the best to use for a bf 109 g6. I have looked over the Polish ones and the Japanese ones and have found errors here and there. Your keen eye  probably has seen which ones are a better match to the original.

I'd recommend these by Matsuba Minoru: http://www.skynet-1.com/serise08/bf109g-6.html
Although I must admit I haven't properly checked them yet, they look quite convincing. In general his drawings are very accurate. He was one of only two draftsman (the other being Rikyu Watanabe) who did accurate Corsair drawings (I've compared over a dozen). His Razorback Thunderbolt drawings are very precise as well.
Japanese drawings aren't always accurate though. Some draftsmen (who's name I won't mention) make an absolute mess. The drawings in the AeroDetail books, though impressive looking, are sometimes way off as well. The P-47 Razorback for instance looked like a pregnant whale and was way off in many dimensions.
The drawings in the In Action are usually way off as well, so don't use those as a reference either.
Polish drawings, though usually of great visual quality, can't always be trusted either.
I always compare drawings with known dimensions and check how well top/side/front views match up. When possible I also overlay the sideview drawing onto a (near) perfect sideview photograph - from an airshow preferably, so the lens used has a small FOV. This will often bring out subtle (or not so subtle!) inaccuracies. Once convinced with the drawings I build my model and then compare the model with more telelens photographs to see if anything else may be wrong with it. Often you'll find a thing or two.
Here's an example (http://skyraider.allaboutwarfare.com/files/modelling/P-47/razorback_wip01.jpg) of the Razorback drawings on a photo. You can see minor inaccuracies in the rudder and the belly is a bit off, but that could be perspective as well. Overall it's a very good match. Do take into account the inevitable camera induced perspective distortions. The rudder is practically side on and "2D" so a safe comparrisson, but the rest gets more dodgy.

Got it! Thank you very much Ronnie! :)
Matsuba Minoru'S drawings are really impressive, but do you get a word of what is written on his page??

Nah, it's all Japanese to me!
But you can order (most of) his books through www.hlj.com. Do a search for "drawings". All six are still available, even if said they're out of stock. Both KevJon and me managed to get them all. The three missing titles are very much gone though, unfortunately.

I have a very good large scale set of G6 drawings. I forget where I got them, but the plans say "Superscale, arlington TX" on them...
hope that helps,
jm

These many be way more than you need but if you want internal details, we can provide down to the rivets. By-the-way, every single post war scale drawing and plastic model is wrong.
