Hello everyone :)

Here are the beginings of my new model, very early stages obviously, trying to get the basic shape right. I post these shots so you could help me spot any major flaws, so I can fix them before going further with details...

Good start, though the fuselage cross sections need some work - especially the nose. But judging by your 109 D and your Beaufighter, we do not have to worry about you making it accurate! :)

I have sent you an e-mail with the other set of drawings. It's not such a nice set as the one you are using now, but it has a lot of fuselage cross section schematics, which may be useful.

Looking forward to updates :)

PS. Don't forget the tailfin is not symmetric. Only important really if you plan to do topview profiles, otherwise it's very hard to spot.

Nice start, how did you build this, in regard to the last pic? Do you use crosssections everywhere? Also what program do you use ?
Looks rather a nice clean mesh..

@Skyraider: Thanks for the remarks, I haven't received the other emails yet, waiting :) I find it pretty hard to nail the shape of this bird without actually seeing at leats some of the details in place (like cockpit outlines or ammo bulges on the nose, or the radiator) but I'll try harder to visualize how it should look now, before I go there :)

@roshent: Everything was built and rendered in modo 2.02. So far I have been building my usual way, starting with 2-3 crossections in the nose and then extending the edges, modifying the shape of the edge were needed. The base mesh is still less dense, as I subdivided it for the renders, to quickly do the sharp corners around cockpit edges (another detail that would otherwise make it look even less like a 109 :)

here's a lowres wire for you :)

That's so odd... sent those drawings twice now and twice they don't arrive. Yet all other e-mails work fine. I'll upload them tonight for you.

Don't have much time, as usual, but I managed to tweak the basic shape a bit, and see what I can do with the bulges on the nose. It feels like a tricky shape to get right due to its positioning on the fuselage and the way it defines the overall "g6" look of the bird :)

Nice going, but bulges are too big and round. They're almost always portrayed too big, really. Have a look at G-6es on www.messerschmitt-bf109.de

I agree. They seem to be more "rounded square" shape and they don't protrude out as much.
