Here is the progress I have made so far on a Martinsyde F.4 Buzzard.
I am hoping it may go into a flight simulator eventually.

Still fairly new to modeling. It is more of a hobby but I wish to get better.
I figure this is the best place to learn more and get better.

I have modeled the wing canvas as well, I have just not rendered it in this last image, I hope to be getting more up soon.

modelling is very nice & very nice looking

Thanks

Progress is slow, I have to model everything a couple times to get it right

I just started re doing the rear fuselage.

Are you lofting your surfaces?

Sorry what do you mean lofting surfaces.
(I often use techniques but don't know the official term ) the majority of what I have learned was just stumbled apon...

Everything modeled is just extruded from other edges. Fuselage was just a single poly box that I extruded and divided.

.. so simple, and yet i don't get it.. ROFL. More pissing around is required!

Okay I checked LW help contents, and I would say yes I do in a way use lofting. What I do is to connect polys I select their points and hit "p" this creates a polygon that connects the two together. You can create a poly in this way with 3 or more points.

Great progress so far: keep it up

Thanks, I will have more of an update soon, added support cables, started a simple cockpit, and I want get the engine in soon.

As promised!

I'm at 4563 polys. I got the engine started here, as well as the cockpit, I redid the vertical stabilizer and rudder and will start on the horizontal stabilizer and elevator soon. I am satisfied with the rear fuselage now. And have a tail skid installed.

Enjoy

Smoothing of your Aircraft model is getting better,
One thing I noticed that I never hear terms of "loft"about LW modering.
(I use LW ver.9.6)
Perhaps squid wanted to say give thickness for some area, and these are
improved last image.

looking is very good
but the back down of this bird it need work ?

Hey Guys

Akio: I have 9.6 as well. I have never heard of lofting in the program either. I think Lofting is a method of connecting polys by creating polys between them, but am not sure.

I have actually just got some good info on the Buzzard, I have redone the fuselage, it is better than this one here, the problem is when I try to cut out the machine gun troughs the smoothing gets all messed up. I have fixed the wing tips as well, though the problems were not as noticeable in that last veiw.

simyevil: The back is giving me some problems, I need to redo the horizontal stabilizers and elevators. I also need to figure out how the fuse and stabilizer meet. Other than that I think it really needs some details like the control cables, I have added struts and support fires to it.

I would put up a new image but I really want to get some more stuff sorted out first.

Thanks a lot

Here is the updated model.

Poly count is 4654 (from over 6000), but I have removed a lot of stuff, such as the frame, that I need to redo so that number shall rise again.

This is a new fuselage, radiator, undercarriage, and struts, with fixed wing tips.

The elevator still needs to be redone

Back to "lofting" as far as I can tell in LW lofting is when you join two polygons creating a skin between them, example taking a square and circle and creating the polys between them is lofting or 'loafing".

Interloper,
Thanks for check it up LW "loft".
Recently I myself apart from "hell of tiny parts"/WW1aviation.
your model looks good as low poly, probably each wires composed by very small polis
Keep it up!

looking is very good
the back down is good now ;)

Thanks guys!

Still a lot of small and large details to go.

Each cable is only three polygons.

Well I am sorry everyone I have not been very diligent with my updating.

I have finished the model and have started the UV mapping. The image I attached is what I have so far in terms of texturing.

Oh and just a note there is a lack of smoothing on some spots because I needed to unweld the mesh to map it. I will merge all the points back together when I am done.

Thanks Guys!

I ended up restarting the fuselage textures, and they are looking much better now. Photoshop is driving me crazy right now, so I am breaking from it for a bit and looking into other possible projects.

I'll post some images once I get going again.

Nice, little known subject. Looks good so far.
