what sort of RPG? My intention for these ships was for use in a fanfic I'm working on the were orginally fora RPG and Fanfic i was a member of but that collapsed. I decided to continue the fanfic aspect of it with some minor tweaks.

Wheras Im to busy to partcipate in another fanfic and RPG I would be interested in what you have in mind for my ships who knows perhaps your RPG is clsoe enough to my fanfic that it could bea Mirror or parallel universe :p

SHIPS IN CLASS: 2 built, 1 building, 1 ordered but on hold.
SERVICE HISTORY: Without a doubt the most massive, most complex piece of machinery ever built by humanity. The Republic-class of Battle-carrier represents the pinnacle of mans engineering capabilities. Costing as much as many nations entire fleets to build, let alone operate, the Republic-class will probably never be equalled. Even now with the class in service many within the U.P.R.s upper echelons continue to wonder if the massive investment was truly necessary. Some have described the class as a waste of resources, and called it a jack of all trades, master of none. Others have called these ships nothing more than a huge ego boost for an alliance already bloated with capital ships.

In truth the design is flexible, powerful, and highly capable. True it is neither a dreadnought or a carrier, but it does not suffer greatly from mixing the two role, thanks in part to its great size which allows the carriage of both a decent sized air wing and a massive amount of large calibre guns and missiles. The preceding Musashi-class suffered because it only carried a single fighter squadron and a few helicopters, the Republic has two squadrons of fighters plus space for a substantial number of large UAVs as well as eight helicopters.

The original requirement which led to the development of the Republic-class was a desire by the Republic’s top brass for a new class of super dreadnought to enter service in around 2050 to supplement the Musashi-class and eventually replace the older examples of the Missouri and Montana classes of dreadnought. The first concept designs called for simply stretching the Musashi-class and adding more guns, but this idea quickly fell out of favour and a totally new design was developed.

Design work for the Republic-class was completed in 2044 and it created a monster of a ship. At 500 metres long and close to 100 metres wide there were no construction facilities any where in the alliance capable of building one of these ships without massive re-engineering. Fortunately for the U.P.R. Navy two ship yards had foreseen the eventual final size of the new ships and both had began developing their yards. The two yards were Bath Iron Works in Maine, USA, and the Kawasaki Ship yards at Kobe in Japan. Both yards were each awarded contracts for one example with the possibility of further orders to come. Bath Iron Works completed its rebuilding project three months both the Japanese yard and began work on the U.P.R.S. Republic on August 12th 2045, the U.P.R.S. Shinano was laid down on 9th December 2045.

The U.P.R.S. Republic was commissioned in to the navy on 11th June 2050 and the Yamato on 19th September of that year. The third hull, the U.P.R.S. Constellation, was ordered from Bath Iron Works in the 4th July 2051, and laid down on the 15th of October for completion some time in 2055. Such had been the massive amount of resources needed for the Republic-class, that the Alliance Senate have so far refused to allocate any more funding for examples of the class. Kawasaki Ship Yards were awarded the contract for the first two Panama-class fast dreadnoughts as compensation for losing out on the fourth Republic hull.
