The 13th of august, at 20,10 zulu, a C130 cargo, of the algerine airlines has crashed in a field nearly a part of my town, Piacenza, Italy.

The plane has crossed the town at not more of 100 mt.

The crew has chosen to crash in this field, to avoid to crash on the houses a few hundred meters far from the crash site.

Some of the rests of the plane has been found also at 4 km of the crash site.

They are heroes for us, they have saved hudred of life.

Just a little thing to remember this crew.

Stefano

Thanks for posting this, Stefano. It's a good thing nobody on the ground got hurt and I hope it will provide some consolation for the family of the victims.

Well i am a little schocked about this, even i was not in italy, but has touched me a lot.
I rermmebr in the 90, an MB326 of the italian acrobatic team, was in emergency and the pilot eject himself without thinking to head the plane in a safe zone, result: probably because was so suddenly, it crashed on a school, 13 children killed and almost 80 very seriosly injured, ruined for the all life.

Anyway our major has decided to give some kind of memorial in memory of these guys, and has contacted the families with a letter.
I think will be a little park in the place of the crash.
Here i have found a little article from a dutch site.
