Well started another Canadian warship. This class of ships has also gone through quite a few alterations over the years. I have chosen do a rendition of the latest version.

Charly, well I am currently working on the mid deck(center section) of the ship so haven't started the Phalanx yet.
ZeKe, I am using 3dsmax 2011. I'm comfortable modeling with it, but still need lots of work with rendering.
Thanks for comments.

Good looking ship and a great model with lots of sweet details.
I attended to STANAVFORLANT spring/summer of 1980 where HMCaS Assiniboine also took part. Also a great ship and a lot of great fellow sailors.
We did the ports of europe an unsafe place beeing a female that spring, hehe. We really had a great time.

looking is very good
keep up
Thanks Nils, having served in the Navy for a few years in the mid 80's, it was a very memorable time in my life.
Thanks Simyevil. I should be able to work on this ship a few nights a week, so hopefully shouldn't take too long to put together. The modeling I am starting to get good at(just takes a few years of practice that's all!), The rendering and putting into an appropriate scene I find difficult.

yeah, not especially the gatling gun but the whole back of her.
I though you did the back ;-)
Very good modeling.
Charly
Well working my way aft. Funny how you can find tons of reference images for a certain part of a ship,(main gun) but little to nothing of another area.(top of the hanger)

Consider turning on Ambient Occlusion (A&D materials) as that will help to give emphasis to junctions. What's your lighting setup?
Hi Argyll, I will give it a go, I only have a Vray Sun in the scene and have not played with the lighting at all after that. I am a complete "noob" when it comes to the lighting and using shaders/materials. So that said, I am currently reading up on A&D materials and it looks like it will help give the scene more detail in the shadows and corners. Great stuff! Now I just need to work on getting that "bleached out" look out of my renders.

Some nice details you've got on this... nice work.
Thanks BruceAdama, well with March break going on I haven't put much work into it lately. Here is a pic of the quarter deck, starting to add some details to that end of the ship.

More work on the quarterdeck. As you might of noticed, the VDS (variable depth Sonar) is now missing. Well some of the latest upgrades to this ship have been the inclusion of a TIAPS. It's a passive/active Sonar device contained within a long cable. Therefore eliminating the bulky sonar system.
Next I will be adding more poly's to the rear of the ship, as the hull's contours are looking boxy!

Well winter is coming and back at it. Re-did the RHIB. Added a whole lot more detail to it. Now just need to continue adding the little details around the mid-deck.
